Garmin discontinuing nuvi 3597?

I went to amazon to check the current prices on the NUVI 3597 and amazon said Garmin was discontinuing it.
Has anyone heard anything about this. They may be
coming out with something in the new 2015 line.

it's easy to trash garmin

I wish that Garmin would come here and read people comment before trashing a Garmin model.Does not make any sense, why discontinued a product that people are very happy with it like the 3597

It's easy to trash Garmin for the discontinuing and reinstatement of the 3597, but the trade pubs and comments on other forums stated part of the reason was manufacturing difficulties. In this instance, putting a discontinued label on the unit stopped a lot of complaints about why the unit was unavailable for so long. My understanding was there were licensing issues for the gestures used to move the screen as well as difficulty in obtaining screens because of smartphone demand.

Garmin Discontinuing 2350 LMT too.

I just checked Amazon and found that my 2350 LMT has been discontinued too, although a dozen or so units are still available for purchase. I presume mine will take the 2015.40 map set when it's released.

3898LMDT-D ?????

When I went looking for a new Sat-Nav to replace my old Garmin 660FM. I checked the 3597 and was told then by Halfords that it was due to be discontinued, this was about 9 months ago. So went for the 3898LMDT-D model. now wondering now long this will be before being discontinued. Also how long the maps will be 'free' for it?

Is the 3898 (or 3598 ?) an overseas model?

3597 vs 3598

I suspect cobo04 meant 3598LMT-D. As I understand it, in Europe, the 3597 is sold as the 3597LMT (with the FM traffic receiver instead of the HD receiver). So Garmin added the European version of a HD traffic receiver to the 3597 and marketed it as model 3598LMT-D. Go figure.
