A thread to discuss and track the updates, workarounds and fixes for the Android Viago App and the available add-ons.

not for me, at this time.
Sorry. But the Copilot premium app is cheaper and has all the features I expected Viago to have. So, until Garmin/Here get their collective act together they will be at the bottom of the pile.
I don't understand how they would even put this product on the market, especially since all the add-ons soon drive the total cost too high to even consider.
I never get lost, but I do explore new territory every now and then.
They put it on the market
They put it on the market for one reason $$$$$

Received notice of new lifetime map update late yesterday
Received the notice and exited and restarted Viago as per the instruction notice but no map update occurred that I originally noticed.
I then went to tools and then the download manager and select maps to go. I then had to select the prior map that was checked and than press on the map till it highlighted and than selected delete the map near the top right. I then had to restart the app and go back to the maps to go again and than select the same map that I had deleted again and then the download of the new map started.
After downloading and restarting the app I checked the file and it has the new date but the file name and total size did not change at all, just a new current date on the map and associated files. Doesn't appear that any actual map update occurred.
I then connected the tablet to the computer and used file manager to browse to the viago files on the micro SD card and found that when I initially received the notice and restarted the app that actually one file did update, it was the original TimeZoneMap_1400.img file that was replaced with the new TimeZoneMap_1500.img file that had the date and time of the initial notice and restart of the app. So the map update was only the time zone map image file and not the main map file.
So in fact it did do the update without me manually having to delete and reinstall anything as I had done. Live and learn, I will know better next time there is an update.

reL Had a chance to test the Viago 1.1.0 update yesterday
rjsrw-was that with the display on the whole time? If you kept in on the whole time and didn't dim it or anything out of the ordinary, that's pretty good battery life. When I use Google Maps on my phone I have to keep it plugged in because it will drain the battery pretty quick, although I do keep brightness turned up to make it easier to see.
Confusing Viago Map Non-Update
I went through the new viago map update process, and there is MUCH room for improvement. After about 15 minutes, I ended up with a new file for time zones, and my original map. So did the update fail, or are there in fact no new maps? I've asked Garmin for an answer...
This morning viago told me new maps were available for download when I launched the app. My choices were "Later" or "Start download" After replying "Start", it told me I must first restart the application before the maps would be downloaded. Again I was given the same choices of "Later" or "Start download". After replying "Start", I was prompted with a message "To start the map update download, please restart the app". I replied OK. viago restarted on its own, then for the next 10 minutes or so, I received "viago isn't responding" messages, to which I replied "Wait". When it finally restarted, there was no message to indicate whether the update succeeded or failed. I checked the files in the Garmin directory, and none had changed. viago was displaying the map at this point. So, I went to the Download Manager, and guess what? -- a message popped up that "The map update is ready for downloading. Do you want to download updates of all the maps and functions which were previously installed on your device?" Sounded good, so I replied Yes. A minute later another message appeared "The application needs to be restarted. Press OK to stop the application, then start it again...". Replied OK and viago stopped. I checked the files in the Garmin directory, and the only new file was TimeZoneMap_1500.img. The map and unlock files were the originals which were downloaded in July.

I have had a couple of
I have had a couple of update fails and one installation fails.
The installation fail was on an HP running Android 4.4.2 and it took the $1.99 but kept crashing the install. Never did get any help from Garmin...
The update fails were similar to the previous post. Did the update, but no new maps of visible fixes/features.
Typical Garmin...
Yes display was on the whole time

It was on the normal brightness that I normally use the whole time and was easier to read than my Garmin 379LMT is under the same conditions. My daughter remarked how clear, detailed and easy to read the display was.

Love and hate
I love the Viago app, when it works. It's getting very frustrating to use and is very unreliable.
I just got back from a two week trip and the app failed twice and had to be reloaded. Luckily I had a backup device.
Garmin needs to listen to people and fix the problems.
Reloaded?
@mblanc01 ... What do you mean by reloaded? Uninstalled and reinstalled? That would be bad for sure. Or do you just mean shut down and restarted? Which version do you have ... Apple or Android?

You may be having problems that are related to your device running the app and not directly a problem with Viago.
Have you reported the problems to Garmin? The Viago web page on google play site has a link to report problems. The only problem I have seen since I first installed it was when it first was released the contacts feature was not working, I reported it and within a week it was fixed and I have not had any problems since then.
I would like to see them add support for custom POI's but I wouldn't consider that a problem, just would be nice if they added that feature.

Waiting on Garmin to respond
I have the app installed on both my Samsung S4 phone and my Samsung TAB Pro tablet. The problem has occurred on both, but the phone has been real problem some. It appears to occur after extensive use of the application, restarting the phone does not relieve the problem. The only way I have been able to resolve is to uninstall and reinstall.(including downloading all the maps and support files, over 3GB) It then will run smoothly for days of use then suddenly fail to start (at the worst times).
I have been waiting for a response now from Garmin for 5 days. If I get contacted I'll update you with

We appreciate your feedback and apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused. We are actively looking into this. This issue should be corrected in a future update of the Viago App.

Viago
I have had this app almost since it came out.Really happy with the results.Grown to depend on it a lot.Don't keep my Nuvi 2597 in the car here in FL. So nice to have a navigation system clipped to my belt when out and about. It has been very accurate so far in FL.We explore new areas or restaurants all the time here.It is nice to have something so convenient that doesn't required a data plan to use.Only draw backs has been not able to transfer my custom pois and favorites to it.So far every place selected has been in the built in data base so no real problem.Have used another app for the POI Factory cameras.

Ok my husband is going through the it's fun to drive fast like when he was in his 20s. We got the V6 Honda Accord and he is always seeing what it will do. He had it up to over 100 the other day, to my disapproval.
. He is amazed at what the little car will do.
He also raced (on the highway) a Hyundai and beat it, funny isn't that
Anyway I think I need the radar app....

No problem. Connect Nexus to computer,go to drive for nexus and click on it,Click on Radardroid folder, click on import folder.Put the red light and speed csv files there. Disconnect Nexus from computer. Now go to the import from SD card from previous post and click import and they will load.
You can also email the camera files to yourself .Then using Nexus save the files in the import folder.

How do I stop the app?
I have not yet found a surefire way to "stop" the Viago app from continuing to run once I am through navigating.
What I wind up doing on my Droid Maxx is going into Settings and then to Running Apps. I find that Viago is still running and I "Stop" several processes. Unfortunately, I may go back there later and see that it has started itself up again (or fooled me about being stopped), so I "stop" it again.
Anybody have the same problem?

Update
Turns out it was the operator (as is usually the case for me)
It seems my problem with Viago continuing to run in the background on my Droid related to fact that it had not completed its download of the new maps. I thought it had - but not so.
When I fired it up and let the download start and complete and then "back button" "exit" it stopped running.
Nice to know

New Map Update Available
Started Viago today and a pop-up screen indicated that there are new maps available.
There seems to be more choices: Complete North America, Canada, US+Canada, Lower 49 states & Mexico.
I tried a couple of them (North America and Lower 49) before settled with US+Canada (D0322260A.img, 2GB). The traffic condition indicator patterns of dashed red/yellow that I like seem to work only with this map choice! With the other maps I tried, the traffic conditions show up as solid red/yellow thick lines. Maybe I did something wrong.
I had to unintall Viago to change the choices of maps. I would like to know if there are other better ways to change the maps without reinstalling Viago.
Blue dots
When I check food or fuel or anything else I get blue dots. Does anyone get the icon for the poi? I can't even click on the blue dot to see what is there. I think I could before the update.
