New speed cameras help drivers avoid tickets

They were placed on roads that have accident rates 2.5 times the state average.

These make sense to implement because they seem to address the issue of safety vs. profits.

Can say it isn't about the money because in most cases it is soley about money.

Thats a nice idea but for those of us on long island, it'll never happen. They are proposing RLC's to shore up the nassau county budget.

Interesting. It has advantages which promotes safety and can help save people money

Our city (Montgomery, Alabama) has some of these. They've placed them in unmarked cars and move them around the city. I saw one a few days ago, on Interstate 85. It was parked on the shoulder of the road. It was pretty easy to identify as the radar unit was protruding from the window of the car. There was no advanced warning, though, like they do for redlight cameras.
