The 2014.40 map update has been uploaded to Garmin's servers

Who cares when, it would be more of an interest if they actually "updated" the maps to bring them within five years of accuracy! lol

I'm guessing 2014.40 will be available on February 20th.

Come now, these things take time. Such unreasonable impatience!

If 2014.40 comes out before Feb 22, I will be in a quandary. That is when I leave for a 2 week 3500 mile round trip to the FL Keys and Daytona Beach. I already have a new GPS (3597LMTHD) to deal with, so should I also update the map? The 3597 came with 2013.3 and I upgraded it to 2014.3, but have not done much testing with it yet. I guess the best choice would be to back up both old maps and install the new map. I will have my laptop along, so I can always restore one of the older maps if I run into problems.

There doesn't seem to be any problems with 2014.3. I have used it extensively. Upgrade when you get back.

If you go into the Map Creator mode of Here.com, you will see the potential fixes for this map update. I don't know exactly the lag between this information and the actual data sent to Garmin, but you can at least see what's "down the pipe".

I month and 25 pages later it will be officially released.

When you have a 2014.3 and works, the 2014.4 should have little difference changes where you are planing go. As you say, you have your laptop keep trying when you have opportunity.

I sincerely doubt it will get past 15 pages...

It's my understanding that 2014.40 will fix the suction cup so it doesn't fall off the windshield.

Only for those units having lifetime suction cup updates.

Knowing Garmin, they'll post a release date of February 29, 2014!

I noticed on January 21st that it had been uploaded therefore my guess for release will be Feb 5th

I WANT MY 2014.4 UPDATE NOW ... ok, ok, heck, to download it would suck up more than a couple of gigs of my allotment.

Nah, I'll wait until we get home.

It will be released when obama and congress stand together and sing kumbaya.

Then we are in for a very long wait.

While it seems to be rare, there always seem to be a few folks here who report some kind of screw-up when downloading a new map version: incomplete dowloads, freezes, app shutdowns, etc., especially when using Garmin Express. Not to mention freaking out when you see the "63 hours remaining" messages as the servers and network do their thing. Leave your Nuvi alone until you get back from vacation unless you are going to be making a trip like the "Griswold's". At best you might pick up a missing side-street or two or a phone number update for "Gator World" but probably nothing major otherwise.

It's so crazy. Everyone acts like these new map updates are gold nuggets. My observation is that they correct very little that any of us have found. Why are we all sitting on the edge of our seats for these? I don't even think I will pay extra for lifetime maps on my next unit. I'll just replace it whenever I notice the maps are grossly out of date (which probably won't be for AT LEAST five years in my areas of travel), probably more.

Not in a hurry to update either. Maps for Canada are slow to update anyways.
