Custom POIs on Nuvi 2597

I have had a Nuvi 750 for 4 years and just received a brand new Nuvi 2597. Seems to be OK. Garmin Express recognized the unit on my laptop and installed all updates required. However, when I went to add the custom POIs I had on my 750 using POI Loader, the program cannot find my device. I searched on this site but couldn't find anyone who had that problem before. Am I missing something here? Is there a new POI Loader for the newest NUVIs? Please help.

MTP mode?

I bet you're right.

This does make me wonder, though. POI Loader should work with the newer MTP mode nuvis so I wonder if the problem could be not having Microsoft Media Player 11 on the computer while the nuvi is in MTP mode. It'd be an interesting test for someone to perform.

But if it were my new nuvi in MTP mode that doesn't let my PC see the device, I'd switch permanently to MS mode which would let me do nuvi backups and treat the nuvi as a remote drive on my computer.

It worked!!!

Thank you so very much!!! POI Factory users have always been helpful and this is another example!! However, it makes you wonder.....how do people who don't know about this wonderful site get the most of their GSRMIN GPS??

Thanks a million

John

License Agreement

Let me push my luck and ask another 2597 question. With my previous NUVIs, i was used to enter "Agree" to the Warning screen. With the 2597, I have to accept the license agreement AND say that I agree to the warning screen!!

Is there a way to avoid the End User License Agreement acceptance screen after having said "Accept" once??

No way to avoid. But if you

No way to avoid. But if you ignore it. The next screen will come up in a few seconds.

Message Will Disappear

Connect the Nuvi to your vehicle and get a satellite fix.

When some newer nuvi devices are powered on, they display the End User License Agreements (EULAs) that you must agree to. These EULAs will show up every time you power the device on until it has traveled for at least 20 seconds going over 3 MPH. Once this requirement has been met, the EULAs should no longer appear during startup.

The above method worked on my friends newly purchased 2595LMT.

I is not necessary to continue to accept the EULAs on my 2597. You must accept the warning screen each time you power up.

Not Agree Message Screen

It's not the warning screen message that reappears, it's a message before it. The warning screen will ALWAYS appear.

Maybe you never saw that message because you got a satellite connection and traveled the 3MPH for more than 30 seconds.

If you get a new unit and do all your tweaks inside your house and never travel, the message will continue to appear. I can't recall what exactly the message was but it was annoying having to hit the agree button twice.

Don't Operate While Moving

You're talking about the warning to not operate while moving. There is a place in the settings to turn that off.

That is safe mode you are referring to, that's not the message we are speaking about.

As I stated, with some models (25XX) a Eula message appears that you have to agree to, then the WARNING screen appears that is timed and you must agree to. That one is always present on all Nuvis. If you let that one time out it will bring you to the main screen, Disabling the Safe Mode will prevent you from any response to the touch screen when the vehicle is moving.

Turn Off ?

Where would that be? Can't find it on 2595 LMT

Are you talking about putting it in Safe Mode? Does that negate the warning?

The setting is in Settings>Navigation>Then Select Safe Mode to enable or disable.

It's on page 63 of the owners manual that you can download here.

I don't recall having to accept the EULAs. The requirement to meet 3 MPH for 20 seconds could be met by just turning the unit on and acquiring a satellite connection. It depends on where you are.
There is another screen that I get when I change POIs on the SD card asking if I want to send the change to the unit. I always answer no and the 2597 has the option to not ask again. The 1490 did not have the "don't ask again" option.

EULAS

I don't recall seeing it on my unit either but can't say for positive. Did find this on Garmin Support that was pointed out by muell9k.

Why do the End User License Agreements show up every time I power on my device?
