Add POI into to img file?

You're not going to be able to add it to the map.img file (or if it can be done it is magic beyond my experience).

But how have you tried to put it on the SD card? You can't just copy the POI file to the SD card. But if you can use POI loader then you might be able to load the poi file into a form that the Garmin will recognize on the card. Assuming that your car GPS receiver doesn't have a usb port for this purpose, you would need access to another Garmin receiver to do this (borrow one from a friend perhaps). It might help others help you if you gave more details about what var and GPS you have.

I have a 2013 Suzuki Grand Vitara. The Garmin has a SD card slot.

I also have an SD card with map.img and a POI file which works fine on my portable Garmin. When I install the card in my Suzuki the map is read but not the POIs... soooo sad.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Get a car that will accept custom POI. Right now I think the only ones are from Chrysler.

Good to know about Chrysler but in the meantime...
