This should ease your pain Hint for looking for big files: try any Linux distribution, as they usually have about 4GB in size. Looking as file is downloading will make you feel like downloading Garmin maps
Excited about something new or updated is quite common. Just look at the iOS releases for iDevices...release day can cause severs to be stressed, just like with a Garmin map update.

I'm just hoping that the long stretch of highway I have to sometimes travel for work has been corrected. The highway was straightened and relocated and I end up with a zillion "please drive to highlighted route" messages unless I kill the routing.

Exactly, just like I said in the 9th or 10th post of this thread. There was no word about the North American map release until we posted that it was on Garmin's server, weeks after this thread was opened.
