MULTIPLE FILES LINKED TO .GPX FILE VIA POI LOADER

i've managed to create and use all the different attributes available at the moment! - From linking MP3 voice files, jpeg, Bitmaps to a combination of .bmp icons with voice or jpg!! (This is said just to bring you up to speed with my knowledge and capabilities at the moment!) - Maybe my terminology does not reflect my competence, but that's useful sometimes!(LOL)

I've been trying to link various combinations of files with one .gpx-file as stated in the POI Loader ReadMe file, page 5: (this is an excerpt for your convenience:

"In the previous version of POI Loader you were able to create custom POI files in MapSource and save them as GPX (.gpx) files and use POI Loader to load them onto your device. When creating these custom POI files in MapSource you could use the "File/URL" field in the Waypoint properties dialog to specify an mp3 (.mp3) audio file to play on TourGuide supported devices.

In POI Loader 2.4.0 you may now additionally specify jpeg (.jpg) images, wave (.wav) audio files, bitmap (.bmp) image files, and directories. Although the "File/URL" field only supports a single entry, by specifying a directory that contains any or all of the previously listed enhancements, you can associate many types of media with your POI's." Then an example of what the Waypoint Window with the link should look like and:

"This example shows that we are specifying the directory “C:\myPOIs\data\” to be our link. If that directory contains any of the available POI enhancements listed above, then they will be associated with this POI on your Garmin GPS device.

NOTE: You may also specify a relative path in the link field. For instance, if all of your link data is in a subfolder of your POI folder called “data”, you may just type “data” in the link field"

I've tried every means possible to accomplish the results predicted by the ReadMe, but without success! -

I thought it may have some origin from my limited abilities on a computer, so I co-opted a computer boffin to help and we sat for about three hours.... Same results (NO RESULT) his comment at the end was that (according to him) my original attempt corresponded exactly with the directions in POI Loader and even with all his attempted work-arounds, would still not do what was intended. (can link a .bmp-icon and Voice file or a jpeg picture, but as soon as I try the combination of the multiple jpegs, one voice file with the .bmp, it simply will not work)

Our interpretation of the problem is this: Mapsource does the whole thing correctly, you link the multiple files to that "virtual" directory and save this to a .gpx file. When you open that gpx-file again and click on the "Play" icon in the URL/Link-field, it opens ALL the files in that directory, PERFECT!

It's with the POI Loader where the problem lies: It doesn't combine the multiple files when uploading to the GPS...........??

Are we overlooking or missing something here?

I've tried this on the Nuvi 310, 610, 660 (four units) and (my own) 670. (all on latest firmware versions, except for the 670 for which there are NO updates [yet?])

Would you please advise if there are any more options I may try out?

It's my experience that the multiple <link> statements that Mapsource produces don't work with POI Loader-you can link to EITHER a .BMP (for an icon), a .JPG OR an .MP3, but if you specify more than one, only the first is used. However, a link to a directory, containing multiple files does work.
(As in: a single file specification that ends with a "\")

BTW - re the reference to .WAV files in the Helpfile - Garmin broke that in POI Loader beta 2.4.0.1 and show no signs of fixing it.
