Garmin Express is showing that 2014.20 is available for download.

Hmm, I saw the same with myGarmin today (at least--it shows an update available on devices now with 2014.10) but when I run GarminMapUpdater, it shows my GPS to have the latest map.

Can someone confirm that 2014.20 is actually being installed for someone?

[Update] GarminMapUpdater 3.2.2 now is letting me download CNNANT 2014.20!

Downloaded the new version 3.2.2 of MapUpdater

Downloaded the new version 3.2.2 of MapUpdater ran it and it connected to my 3790LMT and offered the new 2014.20 map update.

The download is going very fast and allowed me the usual option to install to both my GPS and computer plus select what areas I wanted to install. Only took 12 minutes on my Comcast internet connection to download the maps.

I haven't done a "file compare" on my three saved versions of GarminMapUpdater.exe, but each show a file size of 4588KB. It makes me wonder with identical file sizes, if GarminMapUpdater really is a revised version, or if my older June/July versions of GarminMapUpdater are really different from the current 3.2.2.

LMU did not give me notice of an update - I selected to "reinstall maps" - and the download started for 2014.2 - go figure...

Product Code

I tried using GarminMapUpdater and had to enter the product code. It wanted to charge me for the map. Garmin has been playing games again. I entered the code and am downloading now.

I updated my 3790 without any problems but when I went to update the 3597 MapUpdater said I'd need to purchase the maps. I entered the product code and it's now installing the update. I think this happened to me with the 2014.10 update as well.

Also with the 3597 in it's default MTP mode MapUpdater said I didn't have enough room on the device to install the full NA update. Changed to Mass Storage (USB) mode and deleted my Custom POI file and all went according to plan.

Waiting for the update to complete to see exactly how much space is available and put my POIS back on the device. rolleyes

I had to upgrade Garmin

I had to upgrade Garmin Express to latest version in order to see the update also!!

The currently available version IS MapUpdater 3.2.2 (same as when 2014.10 was released). The 3.0.0.0 file version shown in Properties is incorrect - run the program and it displays 3.2.2 smile

2014.10 gave me the large JCV file, and the small one also. This time 2014.20 only gave me the small JCV file. I replaced the small one with this one.
..I see that 2014.20 has the 255 freeway up to date in the St. Louis area. It has a new junction view on my exit there. Nice

As in the past, you'll probably have better luck using Garmin MapUpdater and not Garmin Express. You can download MapUpdater from:

Large JCV Works well

My 855 with the large JCV on SD card was tested in a simulation and works well with 2014.20. This map's manually downloaded/installed large jcv is almost 4% bigger than the large jcv used with the previous map.

Note to new members here. The large jcv is primarily used on the older Garmin models that offer Junction View but which don't get the large jcv file by default; e.g., the nuvi 8x5 series and most/all of the nuvi 1xxx series. Newer Garmin's will get the proper jcv file during the map update. The only reason to install the large jcv on a new Garmin unit is for the folks who prefer full-screen Junction Views rather than split-screen Views.

Update completeted in about two hours. Installed to PC, 2495 and and the old 260 without a hitch. smile

Update complete

Finally finished updating. The previous two maps updated just fine with Garmin Express but kept failing this time. Went back to map updated and no problems. All in all, this updated used an extra 43MB of space.

I was using Garmin Express. Took everyone's advise and used GarminMapUpdater, and it downloaded the map with no problems. Why even have GE if it doesn't work 1/2 of the time is beyond me.

express is a dud

Tried 2 updates, one for 3590 and one for 3597 both failed with garmin express. Downloaded them after using map updater.

Thanks WAASup for the update as well. I have noticed that they have ignored lost of minor roads. I hope they will add these missings roads at some point.
