Read maps from SD Card Nuvi 660

I've successfully loaded maps on an SD card. How do I get the Nuvi to read the maps from the SD Card instead of the partial map from the internal memory?

Maps

Your maps must be in a folder called "Garmin" on the SD card.

Map File Naming

In addition it MUST be named "gmapsupp.img".
If that doesn't work try renaming the partial map on the 660 to gmapromm.oldimg, reboot, then see if the map on the SD card is recognized. If using the same map versions the Nuvi may ignore the one on the SD card. If it worked, rename the gmapprom.oldimg back to gmapprom.img, copy it to a folder on your PC to save as a backup, then delete it from the 660.
This will free up some space and you can always copy it back if need be.

conflicting maps

In addition to what was said above. You never should use at this same time maps that cover this same area. It may cause problems with routing, including message that route can't be find.

So before you delete anything from device first try to disable map in device and leave only one from card turned on. Instruction how to disable map are in your GSP manual.

It worked

Thanks for the insight. That did the trick.
