GarminMapUpdater program

Thanks to t923347 providing the direct link to Garmin MapupDater, in addition to the direct link, your link shows what requirements are needed for the install.
For Windows users, NetFramework must be present.
MapUpdater indicates it is included but I'm not so sure that it is. If it doesn't install download
NET Framework 4 Client directly from Microsoft's downlaod page.

Garmin Map Updater

Thanks ! I was looking for that download.

Map Updater is still my preferred method of updating my maps.

Garmin Express

A year ago when I updated my maps prior to a trip I had lots of problems with Garmin Express and used the Map Updater. I understand some frustrations.

Last week I used Garmin Express without any issues including updating firmware.

Maybe something on their end is working better, or I now have a newer version of Garmin Express.

Thanks

for the link, I've had some good and some bad experiences with Garmin Express.

2597 Sometimes I wonder..."Why is that Frisbee getting bigger?"...and then, it hits me.

Same Here ...

I've used Garmin Express 3 or 4 times without issues, but once I had to resort to the map updater.

Handy to have as a backup in any case.

It does seem to be working better for me too.

This just means it is time for Garmin to change it now that it is working. lol

You mean they haven't already?

Finally seems to be working

Finally seems to be working now for me too. I am certainly glad they have worked out the bugs.

Updated one of mine last

Updated one of mine last night using Garmin Map Updater. I won't have Garmin Express on my computer.

Messed up my unit voice files with GE

I tried the GE software on the last map update and the map software went fine but the firmware update voice files messed up my unit. It deleted all the voices except for one that I had no clue as to what language it was. Had to restore all the voices with WebUpdater.

mapsource...

If you an find a old apk of Mapsource...i feel this is your best best.

similar experience

Had a similar experience recently. Maybe Garmin is now paying closer attention.

Glad to find the Map Updater

Glad to find the older Map Updater grin . Garmin Express leaves the map and a bunch of other stuff on my computer even though I tell it to just install it to the connected device. I did a system scan log before and after running Garmin Express. That is the only way I found the leftovers.

Just what I need, another program that leaves GB's of unnecessary junk on my system!

Thanks for the link!

Neither will I...

Time Coming Soon

It looks like it is just about time for 2015.10 to come out so these links are going to be needed. I just hope they do not shutdown Garmin Map Updater and make express the only option.
