2460 Keeps rebooting

A recent trend I've noticed, when I select a new route (one I haven't gone on before) that is programmed on my GPS. I find that when it starts to calculate the route the unit just reboots itself and I takes about 5 or 6 tries until it finally caculates the route. Any suggestions?

That's great to hear--for you now (and for me in the future since I recently received my refurbished 2460LMT and will give that a try on mine if I see issues like yours in the future).

One more thought: do you have the myTrends, trafficTrends, or ecoRoute enabled? I think I've read here that one or more of these features can cause slow downs (and maybe eventually, the reboot issues you've seen) in the 2460. You may want to try running your 2460 with one or more of these disabled. Right now, I have all three disabled.

Turn 'em off...

Yep, turn off those trendy things -- they confuse the poor little bugger, and slow it down tremendously!

(Many other threads on this for the 2460)

Turning off MyTrends

I had problems until I turned off MyTrends and ecoRoute. Now Nuvi 2450 works great and I don't even miss the other stuff.

Glad it stopped rebooting

Just curious, did you have a GPX file loaded when it started this rebooting issue?

.

I had all 3 of these options turned off. After the reset they were re-enabled. It may have been overloaded from having the blue line route tracking on (sorry don't recall what it is called).

Interesting

Wow, that's interesting. My refurb 2460LMT came with all three options disabled. After I updated the firmware, etc. plus updated the map, I played it safe and did a hard reset. Once again, all three options (myTrends, myTraffic and ecoRoute) were disabled.

I wonder why there's a difference between our units' default settings?

Have you run WebUpdater to see if your 2460 has the latest updates?

Yes, it may be possible that having a lot of tracking data may have caused your freezeups. You could either disable the tracking or clear the tracking data every now and then.

PS--I get dizzy every time a see you post when I look at your photo leaning well to the left....

Rock Solid

So far no such problem with my 2460LMT. Will keep the fix in mind if a fault happens.

Garmin says they have never heard of reboots due to GPX files

Seriously,
I had this issue with my 2460 and talked to LIZ at Garmin. After asking her ALL the things that could make a 2460 re-boot, she never mentioned gpx files. When I told her that I loaded a gpx file from Basecamp and then it started boot-looping then stopped after I deleted ALL the files in the GPX folder, she said she never heard of that. She put me on hold to consult THEIR internal support team and came back saying nope, noone who works at Garmin has ever heard of GPX files causing that problem. Folks, I'm giving this to you straight. Call and ask for that tech if you like to verify.
