DGN MTF, IBA, MOA, BMW 1200GSA My picture...I was doing a charity ride in Georgia, got my picture with my bike and mural required...then a nice lady ask if she could take my picture...I agreed...when I downloaded this is what I got... just call me M

Thanks!

Thanks! I look forward to seeing it. I moved to NC over the summer, and back in October, I ran up and down the BRP every weekend shooting the fall colors. Over the course of the month, I covered from Blowing Rock down to the south end at Great Smoky Mountains park, and I know there's much more to see.

Gotta check this out...

I travel from Michigan to North Carolina each May for a family reunion. I have driven a bit of the Parkway on these trips to take in the views. Been thinking about adding a day or two to the trip to do a bit more sight seeing. Your file should be of great help in planning this years trip. Thanks for the timely update to your project.

Looks like a nice package

Thanks Norwood.

Sounds like a great package of BRP collections you've put together! I'll have to check them out.

Pretty Country

I have not driven those roads for many years, since I now live on the West Coast, but I keep telling myself that I am going to make a special trip back just to see that scenery again.

With best wishes,

Closures

Most everything on the Parkway is shut down. Even the Hotel and Restaurant at Peaks of Otter. It's run on contract by a private company but were forced to close.

Roadway is open, but...

The parkway itself is still open to travel, however as phranc said, all of the facilities along it are closed. If you do head out, plan accordingly for restrooms, etc. Also, the section between Mileposts 355 and 374, which had been closed in July due to landslides, has reopened. However since they are only temporary bypass lanes, the speed limit is reduced to 15mph through the area of the repair. Permanent repairs are scheduled to begin in November, pending budget considerations.
