Continue To Weg

I was navigating yesterday with OpenStreetMaps on my Garmin Zumo XT.

I received a message Continue to Weg.

Does anybody know the meaning of "weg"?

Probably just a coincidence

…but the word ‘weg’ in German means path or lane.

Continue To Weg

That makes sense.

Thank you!

'Weg' is a bit complicated, depending

You might want to review https://angelikasgerman.co.uk/weg-or-weg-that-is-the-questio.... There is also a audio pronunciation tool at the site. But the meanings, as a noun are:

Weg as a noun:
Der Weg – path, alley, pathway, alley, journey
Der Wegbegleiter – companion
der Wegweiser – signpost

I'm puzzled as to how you even got the word in a Garmin instruction.
Are you running a German language on the Garmin?

Possibly a Waypoint?

Were you navigating to a waypoint with a name that begins with or can be shortened to "weg"?

On some GPSr's, mostly handhelds, I've seen messages like this which use an abbreviated waypoint name.

It has been interesting for sure.

I added some OpenStreetMaps earlier this year, but it is infrequently that I use them to navigate to a destination. The first couple of times that I did navigate to a destination and saw "Continue to Weg" I didn't give it too much thought. More recently whatever site that I used to Google the word "weg" didn't give me what I was looking for.

When I route to that same destination using City Navigator it uses "Alley" not "Weg".

No, I am not running German language on the Garmin Zumo XT. In fact, one of the things I did with the Garmin Zumo ZT not long after buying it is update the maps and delete any languages/texts/keyboards that I won't use.

I think Open Street Maps may have originated in Germany, so displaying "Weg" instead of "alley" is understandable.

I was not navigating to a waypoint this time, but I have had some messages similar to that in other situations.
