POI file makes entries in Favourites

I have a Garmin Nuvi 3765. I have downloaded a POI file and have found that it has filled my Favourites list with its entries. Cannot find any discussion on this. Can anyone advise how do I stop that happening? Thanks.

POI Loader

Welcome to The Factory!

Did you install the POI file to your nuvi with POI Loader?

With POI Loader, you can install POI files to your nuvi as Extras, not Favorites, and you can also install custom icons and sounds:

Yes

Yes, if you didn't use POIloader and the file you downloaded was a .gpx file, then it's possible that the POIs would end up as Favorites.

Placing a .gpx file in the GPX folder on the Nuvi will cause the device to turn all the locations in the .gpx file into favorites when the unit is next booted up.

Using POIloader to place the .gpx file on the Nuvi will result in the POIs being placed in the POI folder and as Craig mentions, will appear as Extras, not Favorites.

To clear whats in favorites now will depend on a few things

To clear whats in favorites now will depend on a few things. Do you have a backup of your nuvi before you had the problem with poi's going in to favorites? If so then you can just replace the current.gpx file with the old one. We can explain furthur if that will be your approach.
Otherwise you need to delete all of the unwanted poi's 1 by 1 from favorites.

On my 2460LMT I am able to select whatever Favorites I want and do how many I want at one time. The older units were only able to do one at a time which was time consuming. Another nice feature was when you click on "Delete Favorites", the list appears with all favorites and they are in alphabetical order rather than closest proximity. Simply scroll down and put a check mark to each one you want to delete, when finished hit the delete button. It also has the option to delete all.

I'm not sure but I think the OP Nuvi 3765 should have this same option. Once removed, he can use POI loader to install the POI's to properly load the files into extras.

All good advice above... unfortunatly the multiple entries in your favorite list will not majicaly dissappear, you'll need to manually remove them.

My Data?

Under Tools, do you have a Delete Favorite(s) option? That's the easiest way to delete multiple Favorites. Don't forget to delete that gpx file from the GPS or it will import it again.

My 3790 works that way too!
