Apple ordered to run Samsung 'did not copy iPad' adverts

A UK judge has ordered Apple to publish announcements that Samsung did not copy the design of its iPad, according to the Bloomberg news agency.

It said the judge said one notice should remain on Apple's website for at least six months, while other adverts should be placed in various newspapers and magazines.

It follows the US company's failed attempt to block sales of the South Korean firm's Galaxy Tab tablets.

Apple has not commented on the news.

Let free market be free

Apple didn't have to resort to tactics blocking Samsung tablet in the courts, just compete in the same field.

I'm in the market for a tablet and found the iPad to be big and heavy for my taste so I started shopping for a 7" tablet, after checking what is out on the shelves in the 7" range and after Google announcing having one available by the end of this month, I narrowed my choices and was about to order a Samsung Galaxy Tab2 until the day it was announced that Apple was coming out with a 7" by late fall.

So Samsung lost my sale just because Apple is going to compete in that market with all the small tablet makers.

IMO

Samsung is better, external memory card for songs and files, Nexus what you got is what you get no expansion slot.

hoping

There are many things I like about the Nexus and many things of the Samsung that I hope my wait for Apple's 7" doesn’t disappoint me.

The Apple can't be priced too low or it will kill the iPod around $200 and it can't be too high out of the $250 they want for Samsung and Nexus.

So far the rumor is the screen is going to be like the iPad2 and not the Retina the iPad3 has in order to keep prices down, it will be no worse than the Samsung and Nexus screen.

Almost ready to dive into the Samsung Galaxy Tab2 but after mulling it over I went to Office Depot (they had the Google Nexus 7 but ran out) and after talking to the local geek (night mgr) he convinced me that the way to go was with Google Nexus 7

He put my fears to rest (in a cloud) with the lack of SD slot by suggesting the cloud or USB OTG (On-The-Go), as far as the missing rear camera he talked sense into me since I mainly wanted the camera for Skype

Now all I have to do is wait for a local retailer to have them on the shelf by the end of the month.

7-inch Samsung galaxy tab 2

I am well satisfied with the 7-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (wifi only) - so much so that I ordered 2 Galaxy Nexus phones from the Google Play Store.

Chances are the iPad you're holding out for won't either, it's that with the the iPhones and other iPads. As for the cloud, I'd rather have my stuff on a card.

Exactly. If you don't have physical possession of it, you don't control, or own it.

apps using offline data

soberbyker wrote:

This is a key issue! The cloud is wonderful, but if you don't have a connection your important apps have to run offline and they must have their data on the device. This includes calendar, contacts, GPS navigation, and whatever else you must have. An accessory SD card might really be needed to make room for offline data.

Guess They Didn't Like the Apology

British judges say Apple needs to apologize once more for falsely claiming that South Korea's Samsung copied its iPad, the latest embarrassing episode in the tech rivals' world-spanning patent battle.

Apple was ordered to print an apology on its website after British judges rejected its claim that Samsung Electronics ripped off its designs when creating its own tablet, the Galaxy Tab. Apple did post an apology, but judges at London's High Court ruled Thursday it didn't go far enough and ordered a new one posted to its site within 48 hours.

Samsung and Apple are locked in a series of international lawsuits over alleged copyright violations, including a California case that saddled Sam-sung with a $1 billion fine.
