"None Found"

Hi. I'm new at custom POIs. I have a Garmin iQue M4. I downloaded a POI file from this site (Kentucky State Parks) and ran Garmin's POI Loader. Everything worked up to that part. When I select "Where to", then "Food, Hotels....", then "Custom POIs" I see the file called "Kentucky State Parks" but when I click on it it says "None Found".

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks is advance.

Yuni

Have a look at the original

Have a look at the original file (in .csv format?) and see if it shows any locations.

It should look something like:

"34.76698 -86.75577, State Park, Yada yada"

There should be multiple lines.

File has info

The original CSV file has line items and info in it but they don't show up on my GPS. What's going on?

Do I need to change some of the settings on my GPS. For example...

My "GPS Mode" is set to "Normal" (whatever that may be) but there's another option = "WAAS/EGNOS".

Also, my "Location Format" is set to "hddd.ddddd" but there are MANY other options.

All that is mumbo-jumbo to me.

Questions on .csv and website

1. Open the .csv file in Excel. There should be 3 or 4 columns of information. The first column is the longitude and would be in a format of -82.33, for example. The second column is the latitude and would be in the form of 32.33. The third column has a descriptor (text) and the fourth column would also be text if it is present. Is this correct for your file?
2. Please provide the web location where you found the file. Maybe I can check it out.
3. Refering to item 1 above, you can download POI Verifier (do a search on this site for the location) and check your .csv file for the proper format.
4. The GPS mode will not effect this file. That refers to the accuracy of the data on your location. You can do a search on WAAS on this site for more information.
5. The location format is set correctly for files on this site. Longitude and latitude can be describe as degrees, minutes, and seconds or the minutes and seconds can be defined as a decimal fraction equivalent of the degrees, hence 32.43 is 32 degrees and 43/100 of a degree. That is what you have your format det to and that is what the .csv files on this site use.

I think it's the file.

I think the file has errors.

Take a look at the data. There's an extra space in front of the quotation marks for the name.

File loaded and displayed ok on nuvi 350

The file format isn't a problem with the nuvi 350 as it loads and displays ok. Run 'POI Verifier' on the file ... it will remove the extra spaces and then give 'er a try.

It's a long-shot, but you may want to check Garmin's website for the latest update for the iQue M4. I noticed v2.30 added "Correct the search capability for Custom Points of Interest....". Possibly not related to your problem, but always a good idea to check for latest updates anyway.
