New Nuvis

Does any of the new Nuvis show the name of the crossroad ahead instead of the name of the street or road you are on? My 855 just shows the name of the road I'm on where my old 2820 shows the name of the road I am approaching. Sometimes my 855 will show the name on the map and sometimes it doesn't.

I'm not aware of any newer

I'm not aware of any newer nüvis with cross streets in the banner bar when NOT navigating. That feature hasn't been present in units for several years now.

to get the ability

To get the ability to show the upcoming cross street you need to find one of the 3 digit models ending in zero.

2450

My Garmin 2450 will show upcoming street / exit names when it's not in navigation mode.

Yes, the 2460LMT does!!

I have a 2460LMT and it does this. I would highly recommend it. It's one of the richest featured units out there when you compare them side by side and even beats out most if not all of the 2012 units. Very much underestimated but a great tool.

Do you know if the 2460 and the 855 have the same mount for using a sandbag?

855 vs 2460

The cradles and power connectors are not the same, but the ball portion of the mount should work to attach the 2460 cradle.

If

If your referring to the bean bag mount then all the Nuvi's will work with it. It's the "cradle", the part that goes around the Nuvi that differs from model to model. The cradle then snaps on the "ball" of the mount which is a standard size across the whole line.

Next street

On the newer Nuvis (at least) this feature depends on the locale that you pick when you first start it up. If you select United States, it should display the cross street ahead when not navigating (I've checked this on Nuvis 2xxx and 3xxx series).

One time I experimented with selecting an Australian locale in order to disable the Autozoom on a 3490 and the green banner reverted to displaying the street you're on instead of the next cross street. But when I changed it back to United States, it showed the next cross street again.

On my 2455LMT, It does not

On my 2455LMT, It does not show the upcoming street, it only shows the street name that I am driving on which I already know. I have tried many things but can not get it to show.

Many confuse the name of the street showing on the map with the name on the banner bar. As you know they are different.

.

The feature has been restored to many, if not all of the newer navigators.

My 3790 displays upcoming cross streets when not actively navigating, as does my Zumo 660, which did NOT do that when I got it, it was one of my very vocal complaints about the unit. My 2350 also shows upcoming cross streets, as do the 276 and 760.

There was a huge hue and cry for the feature because the alternative was to let the use try to puzzle things out by squinting at the moving map . . . .

Now, if they'd only get Garmin to restore the secondary street display to the point where we can see them at least to zoom factors of 1.2 kliometer it does on the Zumo 550, GPSMAP 276 and Nuvi 760.

It is frustrating

when Garmin removes features that we want and replaces them with things like 3-D rendered buildings.

I have the 1490LMT

I am as I type doing a simulation trip on my 1490 and it shows every cross street up to 5 blocks ahead. It stops showing them when I zoom out far enough so to some of the users try zooming in and see if things change.

That isn't what we're talking about in this thread. I note with interest that mis-perception on your part isn't limited to a single topic.

K-Mart has a bean bag mount that is just a doughnut shaped bag with a smooth floor in the middle for a suction cup. Bought one today. $20.00
