Icons missing on Nuvi2340

Try opening the BMP in Windows Paint (or any other paint program) and save the file with as a 256 color bitmap.

I can't speak for the 2340 but other newer models needed this change to be map. Older models could use 24Bit color bitmap files but the newer ones need 256 color to display properly.

have already set up the bmp as 22x22 and 256 same as all the other BMPs but still could not fix it

Have you done a run of POILoader pointing to a folder that contains the company POI file as well as the BMP?

Is the name of the BMP file EXACTLY (except for the .bmp extension) the same as the .csv file?

6 months later i am still struggling with this. The icons are there on the screen but are nmarked as black spot until I am on top of them. i have tried re sizing and and adjusting the BMP file to no avail. Any ideas. I have tried to post image here but some reason cannot display it

I don't know if this will help but after 6 months of struggling it's worth a try. I admire a person who doesn't give up on a challenge.

How about trying to change your map settings.
Look in the owners manual on page 50 for where to do it. If you don't have the manual get it here:

Before modifying write down your current settings and one by one change the settings to possibly identify the problem. I would concentrate in the fields of "Map Details", "Map View", and "Map Data Layout". If all fail try changing map from 3-D to 2-D.

When you say "until I am on top of them", do you mean until you zoom the map in or until you are driving past them? If you see the proper icons when you zoom the map in then I think the Nuvi is displaying the POIs correctly. I don't have your model but on other models you have to be zoomed in to see POI icons.
