You are about two months past the qualified update period.

Thanks Garmin.....
You are about two months past the qualified update period.
The new map deal on a non lifetime map Garmin is that unit is entitled to receive 1 or more free map updates during the 90-day period limited to the available updates during the first 90 days.
This is a direct quote from the Garmin site:
"¹Guarantee applies to 1 covered Garmin product. Not transferable to any other person or product. You will qualify for the free map update(s) only if you register your product online at http://my.garmin.com either (i) prior to first using your device, or (ii) within 90 days of first acquiring satellites while driving with your device (the "First Satellite Fix"). If you qualify under one of these two conditions, then you will be entitled to receive 1 or more free map update during the 90-day period following the date you registered the product or the First Satellite Fix date, which ever is earlier, if and when map updates are available for purchase on Garmin’s website during such period. You will not qualify for free map updates if you register your product with Garmin by telephone or more than 90 days after the First Satellite Fix."

nuvi 750
Thanks, t92... I updated my nuvi 750 via Option 2. I had already removed unneeded voices, etc. and was able to install all of North America.
It took roughly 1hr 45min to download, prepare and install to the nuvi and computer (which already had Basecamp installed). This timing is with a speedy cable internet and a slow USB 1.1 as seen on the older nuvi models.
The 750 has no JCV file.
I'm holding off on updating my 855 until I hear what size jcv file is supplied--and if small as expected--to find the Garmin link to download the large 750+MB jcv file offered for past updates for manual download and installation.*
In the meantime, I suppose I'll backup my 750 with its new 2013.10 to my computer...
Good luck to all...and please someone report the jcv size for the nuvi 8x5 line. Ditto for the first person to find a link to the 2013.10-compatible large jcv file manual download.
*The link predicted by t92.. to be the large file for the new map
http://download.garmin.com/support/2013_10/NA/JV/D3060060A.J...
is not yet active but I'm looking about 48 hours too soon so it may become active in a day or two.
.
Thanks for the heads up - I will check my dashboard tonight. It is ususally there when the post comes out.

CraigW, you are correct about the crippled JCV file downloaded for the 8x5 nuvi. I just updated my 855 and this is what I got from the download:
D3153060A.jcv 43.8 MB (45,973,724 bytes)
Of course, I will remove this file and copy over the large file I got with my 755T.
This once again demonstrates that Garmin gives you a JCV file based on model number rather than available space. I downloaded directly to my 8 GB micro SD card, so there was plenty of space to allow for the full map and full JCV.

Thanks for the expected news. Now I know to hope and wait for the large jcv file to become available from a Garmin server before updating my 855 to the new 2013.10.
File info from the 2012.40 to 2013.10 map update on my 3790 LMT
If everybody could report which junction view file they get, that would be great.
This is my update info as you requested. Keep in mind that my 3790 uses the split screen with map on the left and JV on the right photo real JV and not the full screen photo real JV,
I found that the update software that is used for the option2 update was itself updated to GarminMapUpdater_v3.1.5.exe from just a week ago when I did the 2121.40 update. I do not know what has changed but if you use the option 2 method you may want to update the install software instead of using the older one.
Total time from plugging the Garmin in until the new maps were installed in the Garmin and the computer ran just over 2 hours.

Junction View
I looked at the small file supplied with my 1490. From DFW to Bangor, ME. there were over 40 junction views. They weren't photo realistic, but I could live with them if I had to. (Don't say that too loud.)
With luck, ...

Updated Map on My Nuvi 255 but not my Nuvi 3760
The 255 does not support Junction View. I updated it to the 2013.10 (NA/Canada) map this morning.
Last update, the 3760 received only a 157 mb JCV file. Folks with a 3790 got a 460 mb JCV file. The 3760 works great with the 460 mb file and I have more than enough room for the file. However, Garmin elects to issue the 3760 only the reduced JCV file.
I actually prefer the 750+ mb, full screen, JCV file to the split screen views. Like CraigW, I intend to wait to update the map on the 3760 until I know the full screen JCV file is also available.

Way Too Long
I started the update and the time estimate for the download was 7 hrs.
Wow 7 Hrs, Seems like an estimate, hopefully the time will shorten as it progresses. I too have a 2460 and downloaded earlier this afternoon and it took less than an hour including copying the files to my PC and installing on the 2460. Not sure if the servers are being taxed with all the downloads or you may have a very slow internet service.

Good News for Canadians - Lots more Speed Limits
I'm am pleasantly surprised about the large INCREASE in speed limit data for Canada in City Navigator NA 2013.10.
In my quick tests I'm seeing speed limits on the 401 Collectors all the way from Yorkville Mall (Dufferin Ave) to Pearson International. In the 2012.40 speed limits display was hit and miss, with them showing in some segments and not in others.
Biggest increase I've seen so far is in Vancouver with speed limits showing on HWY 1 from the Horseshoe Bay Ferry Terminal all the way through West Van and North Van. Working my way to Abbotsford but that's going to take awhile in Simulation Mode.
Another test shows speed limit data on HWY 17 and 99 from the Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal to the Peach Arch Border Crossing.
In 2012.40, speed limit data in the Vancouver area was pretty sparse.
And brand new - speed limit for HWY 19 and 1 on Vancouver Island. Never any there before. Also on the Trans Canada from Banff, Alberta to Revelstoke, BC, possibly all the way to Vancouver.

2350LMT JCV file
The size of the D3192050A.JCV for the 2350LMT is 156,995 KB.
Speed Limits
When driving down to Florida, I've noticed on numerous different occasions errors of the speed limit displayed on the unit versus the actual speed limit.
I don't rely on this feature at all, I rather remain safe than be sorry $$$$$$.

Chucks, Garmin made update
Chucks, Garmin made update my NUVI 3490 to V6.3 which messes up the POI categories before I can install the new maps. Oh well! I rather have the latest maps.
Another addtion with 2013.10
I think this is something new with 2013.10. In both Basecamp and Mapsource highways now show mile markers and in places, exits are numbered. Don't think they appear on the maps installed on the GPS but for anyone that needs mile marker or exit data, this is a welcome addition.

new future - didn't worked well
I saw new future with this update. When it detects not enough space on device it asks to place SD card into Garmin and should install map (or part of it, I don't know this) directly to card. No need to install to computer first and use MapLoader. Somehow nice future.
Edit:
Didn't work well. It couldn't install map. Error message that it can't determine where map should be installed (on nuvi 770). Finally no map on computer or device. Anybody tried and was successful with this future?

Thanks for the heads up - I will check my dashboard tonight. It is ususally there when the post comes out.
Update:
For grins and giggles, I clicked on the Lifetime Map Updater icon to see if it would recognize that there was a map update and it did, unlike the past. It works for both computers and units.

I finally had a correction I've been after them for get fixed... a new street. that's been "on the ground" for over 5 years is finally "on the map" after I, and at least one other person I know of - reporting it at least two years ago.

I had no problem installing the map on a SD card that was plugged into my nuvi 1250. This was the first time for this unit to be short on internal memory and the first time for me to use this option. I used MapUpdater and not LifeTimeUpdater for downloading and installing the map.
