Walmart is selling the Garmin Nuvi 3790LMT 4.3" Slim Portable GPS, Refurbished for $159.98

Update on refurb purchase:

I ordered one on this deal and it came Saturday, the 3790 was as perfect as any of the new Garmins I have bought. All the accessories were the same and all were packaged just like a new one plus all the same paperwork was included the same as a new one. The only difference it was in a blue and white box instead of a blister pack. When I hooked it up all the file structure was as a new unit.

I have seen a number of manufacturer's package brand new excess inventory in a non retail box and unload it as refurb at a big discount. By doing it that way they avoid hard feelings from the retailers that are still selling off their retail packaged inventory. Netgear does that all the time and I only buy refurb from Newegg for wireless routers and print servers.

It works great and I have done all the updates and went online to register it today and it registered as a new unit that had not been registered prior. The lifetime traffic worked great and it qualifies for the lifetime map updates. The warranty is the same as a retail packaged unit.

So far I'm very impressed and no doubt it is the best Garmin I have ever owned, has 8GB internal memory and the screen quality is absolutely spectacular compared to my other Garmins. Even in bright sunlight with the top down today I had no trouble seeing the screen clearly.

I found the voice command works way better than my 885T and you do not have to press any buttons to use it, all you do is say "Voice Command" and you are ready to go.

I got me a new one when Amazon had it for $175 a few weeks ago. I can't be happier with it. It's a great GPS overall.

At this point it has worked fine with no routing problems.

"Minor Routing Issues
The 3790 does have a problem at getting you off to a good start at times. Frequently, you will be calculated a bizarre route as you begin navigation, especially if you are moving at the time. In the case shown below, you can simply turn left and continue on as you should. I still can't tell if this is an issue with U-Turns in the Avoidances section of the menu or not, but it's annoying. I have NOT seen any other routing issues in more than 3600 miles driven with the 3790."

Possible turn restriction

It is possible that in the example shown, you may not be allowed to make a left turn at that intersection, and the next best option would be to take the next right, and loop around the block. I've seen similar situations before on my GPS. Didn't make sense at first, but after I realized the scenario I was in, it was the best option I had.

After the last FW update my Zumo 665 has the same problem just with the beginning of a route or after recalculating if you are moving and your next turn is somewhere less than 0.2 away. It makes me think that Garmin did it on purpose because they didn't want the GPS to immediately tell you 'Turn left' or 'Turn right' after starting a route or recalculating. So it navigates you past your turn, around the block and then back on track. I ignore it and just take the turn and the GPS immediately recognizes and sets the new distance to the next turn.

My Z660 I had also did this after its last FW update before I exchanged it for the Z665.

I remember seeing this right after the TV insurance commercials where the GPS hollers at the driver to turn right now!

Unless you are the lead sled dog, the view never changes. I is retard... every day is Saturday! I still use the Garmin 3590 LMT even tho I upgraded to the Garmin 61 LMT. Bigger screen is not always better in my opinion.

Got it yesterday. The bluetooh to pair with my blackberry is very smooth. Like it so far.

I would rather pay $15 more and get new like you did. I had gotten a defective 2350LMT and exchanged it. It simply froze, and nothing could shut it off, short of letting the battery run out hours later (I thought unplugging the DC adapter would do it, but no). Just think, that thing went back to Garmin, they probably flashed it, and it went back out...

Have been using this for daily commuting.. It works well for me. I think I am pretty lucky. Thanks for the lead.
