Hi all.. I have a Nuvi 750 that was formatted. I do not have a backup.. I know,, IDIOT !!

I have sent an email to Garmin but have not heard back yet. Does anyone happen to have a backup of the 750 that they can get to me?

Go here and download a firmware version, load it into your GPS and then upgrade it to the current version.

Of course that won't get you a map. But my map won't work in your GPS anyway.

You could try some data recovery software, there are programs out there that can get files back from formatted media.

tried it

Thanks for the link. I downloaded and installed the update. It did not restore the missing files though. I have a good copy of my map to use. When I plugged the unit in today the first thing to pop is >> you need to format disk in order to use it>> Any thoughts?

Thanks!!!

Was it formatted as NTFS? If

Was it formatted as NTFS? If so you'll need custom cure firmware to restore the GPS to operating condition.

Yes NTFS

It was formatted to NTFS then FAT32 and now FAT.. I have the gmapprom.img file transferring to it now. Just trying random things.

All help is welcome..

Cure Firmware

I posted a link to a thread explaining how to create your own cure firmware in the following thread: http://www.poi-factory.com/node/27569

That is your start point, because formatting in NTFS generally screws up the hidden memory space where the firmware actually resides. Repeatedly formatting the 750 isn't going to help you. FAT32 is the default, and thus formatting it in FAT won't help and may in fact make things worse.
