City Navigator North American 2012.40 Available (Feb 7/12)

Garmin has released City Navigator North America 2012.40 today.

It appears to be a phased in update with some users seeing the availability via myMaps and others not. I couldn't see it from there or the Lifetime Update program but selecting Download from the Map Updates section of myDashboard and then picking Option 2, resulted in the new maps being downloaded to my 3790.

I have deleted everything I can think of that I don't need but it is still telling me it won't fit.
Do I need to delete all the gmap.... files?
I did delete the biggest one and it was a little more happy, but still won't finish.
A few files like the GUPDATE.GCD file has been uploaded to it already.

thx

I had the same initial problem when I tried to download the latest map update. I had to remove all the voices except 2 and all the keyboards except the US english one. That worked but I think this will be the last time an update will go on the unit, the next install will have to go on an SD card.

My replacement 1490

Garmin did a quick turnaround when my 1490t developed a problem. The refurb arrived only 10 days after I mailed my old one.
I had a problem updating the refurb, but on the second try it went smoothly. I have the Lower48+Ontario in memory and the 757MB JCV on the card. The boot-up time is 18 seconds.

I have chosen a somewhat different route

It appears that when I am driving on Pulasky Skyway, my 3470 thinks I am driving on the road under it ... has anybody experienced anything like that?

Anytime I've driven on this road (and others around it) my GPS has been on the correct road (very fortunate I'm sure). I think it has been the case since I am always following its directions so I am on the road it is telling me to be on.

A question for you, is your GPS on the correct road prior to the stacked roads? If you are on a route, it should be correct...

I have chosen a different route (which I know is better). Perhaps I need to experiment more to figure out exactly what is happening. Thank you
