Redlight camera - Garmin 760?

I have the older garmin 760 gps. I found this forum through google search.

Is it possible to download the POI database including the redlight/speed camera into my 760 or Do I need to buy a newer garmin like Garmin 50LM?

Thanks

Download will be no problem

Lot's of POI's to enjoy also

760 is good

The red light and speed camera files work good in the 760. It is even better than the latest models because it plays .mp3s and that means you can download an .mp3 sound file for your proximity alerts.

The nuvi 760 is one of the all-time best nuvis.

Also

Also remember that you will need to download Garmin's POI loader software in order to place the POI files you get from POI-Factory on your 760.

POIloader can be downloaded from https://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=927 for the PC or http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=3698 for the MAC

I used to have a Nuvi 780 and loaded and used the RLC database with no problems at all.

Uploaded

I uploaded the red light, traffic and parking POI's into my nuvi 760 through the POI uploader tool.

I also did the mp3 alerts along with the csv file.

It appears under Extras --> Custom POI's.

Does it automatically start alerting me when I see/approach camera lights?

Thanks

Alerts

Yes it will as long as you have Alerts turned on. Enjoy.

don't forget other POIs

You can begin to use other POI databases before you have access to RLC/SC POI data. They are all very good. smile

.

Although I have much newer units than the 760 (I still have my 750 & 760), I feel the 7x0's implementation of alerts is much better than newer units...the alert banner is much larger & much easier to read than today's newest units.

Volvo uses in it's XC70, and have been updating it regularly for over 2 years now, with great success, you have nothing to worry about!

Change POI Settings?

I own a NUVI 760 and just D/L the red light POIs and speed camera POIs.
How can I modify the distance before I hear the alerts for these custom POIs?

Thanks

run POI Loader in manual

You run POI Loader in manual and you can set a distance for the RLC. Distance for the speed cameras is supposed to be varied based on the speed following the @ symbol. My experience with the 2.6 and later versions of POI Loader is it defaults to 1/4 mile (400 meters) unless the speed times 36 seconds would give you a longer distance.
