Traffic Receiver Initializing (must remove from cradle and reinsert)

Frequently after I start my 855, traffic information does not appear. Checking the GTM status debug screen, it shows the status as "Initializing, SID 128."
This will not change until the unit is removed from the cradle and reinserted. After that, the radio channel is locked and traffic information is received almost immediately.
This is very annoying and inserting the unit into the cradle is difficult in a moving vehicle and can easily damage the connector pins.
Does anyone know why this happens and what can be done about it?
