time zone map version

The version of the file is listed in the GarminDevice.xml file. Open in Notepad or similar editor and search for <FileName>gmaptz.img

The current (2012.30 maps) version is 8.0.

 
EDIT: you'll find the file in the Garmin folder of your unit.

@WAASup: He's likely looking to update it, since the time zone map gets updated on an irregular basis and is not automatically updated with a map update or through WebUpdater.

@Strephon_Alkhalikoi for my 1490, the gmaptz.img file is updated during the lifetime map update process. This has been the case for all the 2012.xx map updates since I purchased the 1490.

I just updated the time zone map on my 1300LM to version 9.00 using WebUpdater. There was a patch included with it, which when completed forced a reboot. Unusual, since in my experience getting a new time zone map was a manual experience, and no patches were included with it.

Updating to a new map never triggered a time zone map update for me, but I believe that is due to my only using the map update program to get the files onto the computer and using MapInstall to transfer the maps. The download only provides the maps and doesn't include the time zone map.

From the Garmin web site, I found out that there is a latest version of the timezone map to download, I'm not sure whether or not to download it because not sure what version I currently have on my GPS.

After reading this thread I found out that by running webupdater it will also determine whether or not the time zone map need to be updated.
