1350 LMT completely locked up again

And this is the 2nd unit. We were approaching the GWB, and the traffic alert was solid red. Then the unit froze right up, and nothing besides letting it run out of battery would get it to reboot. Very frustrating. It's a good thing the car has a factory NAV with XM traffic so we could figure out what the traffic issue was.

I really wish Garmin would take things seriously instead of saying it's user error, and fix bugs. Right, the user made a mistake approaching the GWB westbound during rush hour. If they hadn't have taken that route, the unit would never have frozen up. smile

Hmm, hard reset?

Good thing I read this post twice as I was going to suggest you do a hard reset, but step 1 is "power off" so that wouldn't work in your case. However, a hard reset might not be a bad idea when you get the unit running again as you will lose user settings and presumably recent data. If you are computer savvy there are other steps you might consider, however, just in case you haven't got the steps:

== Hard Reset Procedure: (All except the 8x0/8x5/37xx series units):
1. Power the unit off.
2. Press and hold (and continue to hold) the bottom-right corner of the screen while powering the unit on.
3. Continue to hold the screen until the "Do you want to erase all user data?" prompt appears.
4. Press "yes" and the unit will reboot.

I went through 2 - 1350LMT's with lockup issues and reboots all within 30 days of purchase, after spending hours with tech support and troubleshooting, the 1350LMT was returned and I upgraded to a 2350LMT and have not had any problems since.

Good fix, that should solve

Amazing, well, at least my wife and I weren't dreaming. Seriously, the first time I wondered if my a/c was too cold and reached the unit, I was grasping at straws. It's too late for me to return it, live and learn and boycott. LOL

make sure the fw is up to date and hard reset it

just dropping my 2 cents.

run WebUpdater program on a PC to make sure the unit has all the updates from manufacturer (including maps) and then hard reset it, I think most Garmin units will display hard reset dialog if you hold/touch the bottom right corner of screen while it boots up.
