Well the inevitable has happened ... I left my Nuvi mount in a rental car.

What is the best place to buy a winshield mount for a Nuvi 350.

There are many places online. I have never purchased from "MOUNTGUYS.COM" but they have a Large selection of accessories. I purchase lots of stuff online and ALWAYS use paypal.

Good luck,

I am scared of doing that

I am so scared of doing that as well. I also did when I went to boston, but the guy saw it and gave it to me before I got into the shuttle.

You could ask Garmin for a free replacement, saying that it stuck to the windsheild and is now no good to you. It wouldn't be a total lie.

Thats a great idea to ask garmin for a new one but if you tell them that the suction cup is no good they will most likely send you only that part and ask for the old one back. If you need the the Nuvi cradle as well then you'll be only half way there. I find that Garmin is very customer service oriented and may just send one for the asking. I wouldn't call sales but rather tech support. Garmin International (800) 800-1020. It's worth the try.

Mount

I've purchased a couple items from MOUNTGUYS.COM.

Great service, quick response.

Try this...

This won't help you get your mount back, and the possibility of losing one to a rental car never occurred to me until I read your post. What I do whenever I want to make sure I remember something after a long time behind the wheel is to write a message to myself directly on the windshield directly in my line of vision (ususlly just below the sun screen tint line). I carry a dry marker with me for that purpose. The message is always in front of me, and is a constant reminder. If you were to write down the word "mount" when you installed your GPS in your rental, you'd see it when you're looking for a space to drop it off. My personal truck usually has reminders on the windshield, mostly for things my wife needs me to pick up on my way home. From now on, I'll write "mount" on the windshield of our rental cars. Another plus would be that on a rental, there's no need to erase the message. Imagine the puzzled look of the next person who rents it.

Nuvi Mount

Have you heard back from the rental agency? A car is usually detailed and checked before it goes out again
and perhaps an employee has noticed your mount in the car. I'm sure that they have your address info and can match it up with the vehicle you rented and can arrange for the mount's return. Of course I am assuming that the employee is not pocketing the mount.

Like your Idea

You know: "Nobody is perfect" is my mantra-I'm going to get one of those dry-markers ASAP....If I don't forget what it's for! Jake

Other ways to accomplish this

Hummm...what about just leaving a voice note on your cell phone. I can see a LEO saying "What the heck are you doing with all that writing on your windshield? That is "obstruction of view", here is your ticket sir/m'am"

Gee, officer...I was aiming between the "O" and the "U"

I actually got the idea from those "heads up" displays available on some GM cars and F-16s. I don't think the courts would be able to argue against that.

The cell phone idea is good too, if you remember to play the message before jumping on the airport shuttle. You could also etch "This belongs to..." on the thing which would ruin it for E-Bay and maybe give you another chance at getting it back.

Mount

You could try http://www.rammount.com
They are a little on the pricey side but well worth it. They are very solid and not cheap looking. I have used their suction cup mounts in my vehicles and handlebar mounts on my 4 wheelers. The unit stays in the cradle, just pop it off the windshield mount and then mount it on the handlebar mount smile

Garmin nuvi 660 Garmin GPSMAP60CS HTC Touch Pro (ATT Fuze) with internal GPS You can't spell gEEk without an EE :)

I Like this one better for the Nuvi

Try this website: http://www.proclipusa.com/
The mounts are sold as 2 part systems.
First, you select what type of vehicle you have and where you want to mount your device. Then you select the specific cradle for your device.
I use one for my Blackjack in my truck. Works very nice.

The reason I like this better for the Nuvi than the rammount.com option is the fact that you still use the Garmin cradle (which has the power port/audio out jack/mic jack) on it.

nuvi mount

I used to own a Streetpilot 2820 and still have the beanbag mount which I prefer to the windshield mount. Anyone know of an adaptor or a way to use the 2820 mount for my current Nuvi 680?

I live in TX so I will probably save that excuse for when the mount inevitably glues itself to the windshield from the TX heat.

Replacement mount

I called the agency from the airport terminal they had turned the car around in less than 30 min and sent it back out.

One kudos for the rental company is the manager called me at work the next week and told me to purchase one and bring him the receipt, he would have the company reimburse me for the loss.

Good News

Glad to hear your rental company stepped up. Your trials brought the issue to light. From now on, we'll all think of you every time we stick our mounts to the windshield of a rental car.

2820 Mount

Well I fixed it. I took the 2820 sandbag mount. Unscrewd the 2820 adaptor and used the same holes to afix a small mirror and it now works great as a mount for the Nuvi 680.
