How often do you use your gps????????

I have a kenwood dnx5120 with garmin. I've done the upgrades to 2011 maps, added a bunch of poi's (thanks to this forum) - but I find that I rarely use my gps.

How often do you use your gps units?

Looks like the majority use

Looks like the majority use their gps daily or very often. Mine is built in to the radio - and I find myself rarely using it.

Alot!

My wife would not drive without it. Especially on longer drives. Poor sense of direction.
I use it as a reminder of red light and speed cameras.
They are everywhere.......
When the car is on so is my gps.

.

Turn it on just about every time I drive but not really "using" it. I just want to make sure it knows where I am in case I ever need it. Actually using it... perhaps once a month.

Built-In GPS not used

My Jeep has one built into the radio, and it doesn't get used either. It is so poorly designed and so expensive to update, that long ago it was replaced with a Garmin, which is used daily.

I use it mostly on long road

I use it mostly on long road trips. I find myself using my cell phone gps more than my Garmin.

If it is local, I usually

If it is local, I usually use Mapquest or Google Maps. I will send it to my GPS when it is hooked to the computer.

Since I am a teacher, I primarily use it during the summer months, but if there is somewhere new to go, I will send it to my GPS. I can use the iPhone, if I needed, but still use the Garmin since I have it.

when in or on my vehicles

Love the traffic alerts on my car gps has saved countless hours of stop and go.
The zumo is awsome for riding in unfamiliar territory.
These are great aids they still have a long way to go but very helpful as they are now.

Mine is garmin

I'm lucky in the sense that my Kenwood 5120 has real garmin navigation built in, and I've got the 2011 maps updated, and I've added a bunch of poi's... I also have a GTM11 fm traffic receiver - which is always on because its part of the radio - and I do get alerts, even though I find them not very accurate. And occasionally it will tell me something like "traffic in 24,654 miles" - kind of funny.

Every Time

I go out of town or to a part of town I don't frequent often.

How often do I use my gps?

As often as necessary. Most of the time I don't need it locally, but if travel next state, it's on.

I have a Mobile XT with garmin. I used it all the time.

All the time...Especially with the Red Light Camera POI's that this forum lists. I also use the Walmart and Costco POI's when travelling with our tent trailer!!

Can't Live Without It

I work in the field. My car GPS was out dated and did not like the new DVD update so I bought a Garmin 2460LMT, it is faster to use and more accurate. It saves me money and time. Unless I know exactly where I am going I use it all the time. I have to watch it a bit to ensure that it is taking me on the best route rather than the shortest, but overall I would not want to go back to pre GPS Days of maps.

When I'm Not Familiar With An Area

I don't use my gps on a daily basis. When I go on roadtrips I use it to keep track of where I am (more as amusement) on the zoomed out map. When I hit a town I zoom in so I can see if and where the speed/redlight cams are.

I also use it for when I need to go to a place of business or whatever in another city that I have no idea where it is and then I plug in the address and let it take me there.

I wouldn't get rid of my gps because it is useful. It helps my wife out a lot because she has no clue where she's at when leaves our city ;b

OK.....so where the heck am I?

Whenever

I use mine every time I turn it on.

All the time

I'd like to say I use it every day, but to be honest I've got a pretty routine trip. I do use it at least 3-5 times a week though. I cannot even imagine not having one in every car.

I use mine everyday...POIs

I use mine everyday...POIs are so helpful!

Too often

The trouble with that idea is you become too dependent on them!

I only use it when I'm on a

I only use it when I'm on a trip (even a short one). So, I don't use it all that much, but when you need it, it is a must have.

I use mine everyday.

I use mine everyday.

Love our GPS's

We have two Garmin products. A GPSMAP 60CSx that we use for geocaching and a 1450LMT that we use for traveling in our motorhome and toad.

Just like they say about American Express, "never leave home without it."

When I need it

Just knowing that I can hit home on my gps, is worth having it with me. When I in a new city, I can always to get back to my hotel..

Seven days a week.Iam a

Seven days a week.Iam a proffesional limo driver and I will say Garmin is a very good name in GPS.I am so addicted to it that I dont go home without using it.

As Trace Atkins said in the chorus of one of his hits. Just replace fun with GPS. smile

"Too much fun whats that mean
It's like too much money, there's no such thing
It's like a girl too pretty, with too much class
Being too lucky, a car too fast
No matter what they say I've done, well I ain't never had too much fun"

Use Mine Daily!

I use my Garmin 1490 daily. Whenever I'm in my truck it's on and the bluetooth feature makes for safer phone conversations...definitely a useful tool!

GPS; part of life..

i use my gps all the time. It's not because I am not aware of my routes; just to check the traffic and estimated time of arrival. It's always good to know the time I will reach the destination.

I partially agree

I also use mine very often - but I don't exactly care WHEN I reach my destination. This goes with the "holiday" side of things, whenever I do get holidays anyway grin

Sits in the house

Sits in the house 95% of the time, only stick it in the car when I travel into unknown areas.

Same here...

It has been tucked away in a desk drawer until recently. It is insight now so maybe I'll find time to put the latest map update on it.

Not so hot in Alaska

Been visiting the state and found the GPS unreliable while travelling to Deadhorse. The track was consistently to one side or the other and seldom on the actual road.

The POIs for Fairbanks are wolefully inadequate (i.e. the GPS shows no casr washes yet the city has several. Also a number of gas stations have been out of service for many years yet show on the maps!

Here is one more interesting anomoloy. The GPS distance differs from teh car odo - gps is shorter so what do I believe for mileage and speed?

Currently On Vacation

I'm currently on vacation on Sanibel and Captiva Islands on Florida's southwest coast. Just yesterday I used my Nuvi to find a not so well known fishing shore spot and to get a number to call in a restaurant reservation.

I've also been using my handheld non stop whether kayaking, shore fishing, or chasing tarpon from the boat as my flats boat owner buddy is old school and goes by charts. LOL

I barely use GPS in local

I barely use GPS in local driving ... well unless I get lost in some industrial/rural area I don't know around here ... this NJ area where I live is a bit ... industrial ... confusing ... congested ... and crazy hehe smile

other than that wife and me use it during almost every long road trip to a new place, e.g. for driving through other cities for sight seeing locations, getting to restaurant, hotel, etc.

Even though I do not use it daily, my life would suck without it wink
