off kilter with the rest of the world? Here we are in late May 2011 and the 2012.1 map is out...makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. On the bright side...by May 2014 I should be able to buy the 2020 maps and that will be a huge help in buying investment property smile

The web site does not list the map version. Or I'm too blind to find it.

Then let's all...

go to Germany and get it...

No updates in the good 'ol US OF A for the 350, 360, 370, 255w, 765t or the 775t....what's the lucky number, pretty well leaves me out. I can't get too anxious for update after update, doesn't seem to be much change for me from one to another Oh well, I'll just keep waiting patiently.

Map update

The fact that they have released the base map means that it will probably be released either tomorrow or sometime next week at the latest. It has taken awhile for them to release 2012.1 for download because I think they're trying to fix some software issues that they have found in their testing of the update.

Considering that 2012 vehicles are out or will be very soon, I'd say they are right on schedule smile

Maybe this evening or tomorrow

As I recall, they usually push the new maps to the myGarmin site a day or two after it shows up on the sales website.

Downloading now

I wonder why they put the button that says Lifetime Update Available in the October 10 block rather than in the Feb 2011 block and why they don't identify the name of the new map.

It looks a bit smaller this time. Only 1401 mb as opposed to the normal > 2000 mb in the past.

Cool

Thanks

Thanks for the heads up. I will check when I get home from work today whether it is available for my 1690.

Any problems found?

For those who have installed the update, have you encountered any problems yet?

Does the map update include a firmware update to 5.X?

Installed it earlier on my 3790. It works fine but a street in woodridge, Illinois is still missing.

Something new(don't know whether its the map update or some prior software update); When you search by address or intersection they now added postal code, state or country to the screen.

Thanks for the heads-up...

downloaded, installed and working well.

JCV

I had no problem with my two GPS/PC updates. I finally deleted my unneeded voice files from the nuvi 750 before updating to make sure I'd have enough room for all of NA.

I haven't test driven the new map but have looked at the file sizes. The map for all of North America is about 50 MB bigger than 2011.40 but the jcv file for those GPS units with Junction View has more than tripled in size. Maybe I'll finally see some Junction View offerings in Arizona!

[Update] I just did a short drive around Flagstaff AZ in northern AZ. In my wildest dreams, I had hoped for two junction views on my 855, having never seen one yet anywhere in AZ in previous map updates. Amazing, I got three Junction Views. I have really high hopes for more JVs as I drive into the future!

...

Thanks for the info!

Errored out

Dang, my 2012.1 installation crapped out with an error.

It appears that 2012.1 map was installed ... but there are no Junction view files installed on my 1450LMT.

Installation said to contact Garmin.

Lots of space on the GPS.

Oh well, I'll try again.

Garmin 205, 260W, 1450LMT, 2460LMT, HEREwego for iPhone ... all still mapping strong.

Same Here With 1490

Done on GPS

Installed to laptop and GPS - now I have to wait until I go home and get it again for my computer there. Should have told it to leave the install files on the laptop and then just taken it home on a portable drive. D'Oh! No big deal. I'll just download it at home.

It really irritates me to see the lifetime update that shows as available for the other nüvi 760 I had that was either lost or stolen. I've kept it under my registered devices just to screw with whoever has it now so they can't update it but they will likely never check anyway.

No Junction Views on 1490

I tryed another download and didn't get an error this time, but still have no junction views.

1459LMT second install attempt

Well, my second install attempt of 2012.1 on my 1450LMT worked ... but this time, the install program would only allow me to install the "lower 48."

I'm not new to all this ... I have already pared down all my voice, help, vehicle files when the GPS was new so I'm already running with MAX available space ... so it appears that Garmin's install program (on the first pass) doesn't calculate space requirements for a full install of 2012.1 and then craps out in the final stages of the install process.

On my second attempt, the install program (with lower 48 selected) did finish the install and also included the Junction View file ... BUT (and isn't there always a but) a KNOWN JUNCTION VIEW location on I-80 near me ... on a simulation run ... does NOT display.

So, either the KNOWN JUNCTION VIEW was eliminated in 2012.1 ... or something is still screwed up.

I feel your pain

JJen, I feel your pain. My second attempt included the Junction View file ... but I haven't been able to get it to display KNOWN junction view locations.

Interesting that the 2012.1 install is causing problems with both your 1490 and my 1450.

Hope this isn't a foreshadowing of things to come with other 14xx series owners.

What's the junction, and we can check it. Give a couple of coords to go by.
