I wish Garmin would number the next two updates as 2011.5 and 2011.6 so we can get back to the year matching the update. This isn't a new car model.

But 2012.10 sounds newer and more up to date than 2011.60

Garmin should make the numbering scheme easy to follow.
Updates for 2011 should be 2011.xx Then in 2012 they should be 2012.xx

I found an unlocked copy of 2013.13 on bittorrent, but now my computer is acting funny.

Just hacked the Jet Propulsion Laboratory's web site and downloaded the Mars Rovers map file to my GPS. Hot diggity damn, eat your heart out Ray Bradbury.

The latest version is 2011.40 so who knows what 2013.13 is. And now you most likely have virus and malware because those type of sites are riddled with it.

After that it really is funny.

Sounds like a good idea, however it probably won't happen. Same with new car models.

It very easy to follow, just subtract one year from whatever Garmin calls their map update and you know what year it really is.

I just got an email from Garmin [email@email.garmin.com]telling me that it was time to update my maps, but when I logged onto MyGarmin, there was no update to be had. Analyzing the email further, it seems that it was only an advertisement for nuMaps, not an announcement for their next update.

But when I clicked on the 2011.30 DETAILS tab, I see this:

2011.40 with a product key.

So I guess there really is an update available, just hard to find.

What happened to all the old links on the MyGarmin MyMaps? I now have three links to 2011.40. And no links to redownload 2011.30 and 2011.20.

Maybe some don't see the need to update because they live in older more static neighborhoods not subject to much change?

I think you got it all wrong. USA will be part of Canada maybe.

For a simple format, just have the dot number as the month. 2011.2 = Feb 2011, 2011.10 = Oct 2011.

Having them set as "version numbers" can just cause problems when various downloads are around.

Based on the original post, it appears that the 2011.4 map came out in mid-Feb, and with quarterly releases that would put it sometime around mid-May or so. Guessing another month.

Garmin tech support told me a new map update should be available in late spring as they usually have 4 map updates per year.

I notice that the 2011.40 map is avail for download Currently I have the 2011.30 install on my GPS. Does anyone know the differents? And it seems that they are update,Garmin does the Update but I wish it would tell me what kind of update install on the Gps.

Yes in the last update 2011.40 the Junction view file more than doubled in size from the prior release.

Last update added many photo realistic JV in Canada according to reports.

Don't you think is a little odd to find on bitorrent a 2013 map.when the 2012 is not out yet??
