Screen is hard to view in sun light, is this a common problem with the 2300 models?

have you turned the brightness up to the maximum?

if that does not helps, you can buy GPS sun shade, which should help.

Thank for the info,yes up to 100 percent. My garmin 550 works ok in the sun. I will look at the sites for a sunscreen.
