Update 2011.31

I believe the fix released for 2011.30, labeled 2011.31 was released on or around November 20 which is nine days after 2011.30 was released.

60 Days Past but Garmin Gave Grace

I messed up my calculation of 60 days from 1st. satellite acquisition by one day ( I was waiting for new update to come out). I emailed Garmin support and within 12 hours they emailed me back and gave me access. There are some good guys at Garmin!

I read about this date on different forum too. User was quoting from email he get from Garmin about free maps update for his new unit.

Quote: "New version 2011.40 should be available on February 16. 2001, but we can't guarantee that this date will not change".

It's about European maps, but they usually show together with US maps. Forum is not in english, so I'm not linking to post.

I can...

I'd probably say this week or so.

Certainly Due

I held off updating my new GPS (no lifetime maps) based on the fact one is due in early February. Should be any day now!

I'm hoping it's before my 60

I'm hoping it's before my 60 days run out

Stressed about 60 day limit?

It is best to just go ahead and purchase a discounted lifetime update, and be able to relax over the insignificant freebie.

What about the DVD's - Specifically for the Kenwood units

Any body have any history on when they have come out? I am still running 2009 maps and wanted to wait for 2011...

Looking forward to the new

Looking forward to the new maps. My current maps are over a year old and hopefully the error I reported got fixed. I am optimistic since the NAVTEQ van surveyed/google pictured the whole area. Nice pic of my house on google maps, actually too good.

For the Kenwood units you would go to the Garmin page below

For the Kenwood units you would go to the special Kenwood page at Garmin's website link below and select your unit. Any map updates and firmware updates will be shown if they are available for your model.

See the note at the top for your unit as follows:

"Important Software Update Notice: If you own a DNX7x40 or DNX9x40, please read the Software Update Instructions before updating your device. It is important that you update your Kenwood unit software first at Kenwood’s website before updating your Garmin navigation software."

Keep in mind...

Keep in mind that Garmin has always stated under the nuMaps Lifetime update policy that you'll get "up to four map updates" per year...going by this wording, Garmin has every right to skip one or more map updates. Of course, they have not yet done so in the past so it's just something to be aware of.

Seven of them? I surely hope you've discovered the "Install Options" button that keeps the 2GB download on your computer for the latter six installations to avoid a long internet download for each unit.

Keep ‘em waitin’, waitin’, waitin’,
Though they’re disapprovin’,
Keep them updates from movin'

What's the big rush?

You can't always get what you want,
But you get what you need.

Maps used to be updated once a year and many people complained that there were not enough changes to buy an update. Now they are approximately 4 times a year and people are complaining that 1/4 of the "not many changes" is a reason to complain when the update doesn't come out on their anticipated date?

You can't please all the people all the time.

It amazes me that so many complain that the update is late when there has never been an official date. If it isn't out before next Nov. then I might understand some of the comments.

If we didn't have Garmin to complain about then we would complain about each other. Humans are like that.
Complaining is like diarrhea, it runs in your jeans.
Thank you Garmin

It puzzles me why they don't even make a minimal effort to keep the custmers informed.

How loud would you be screaming and moaning if they announced the map update would be out next Tuesday and then it didn't come out until a week from Thursday? It would be best not to announce a firm date.

Hey, if Santa can say he's

Hey, if Santa can say he's coming on the 25th of December, then I expect Garmin to be able to say their map update is coming on .... well, guess they're not the same thing.

Santa is real.

Garmin is just something we've all cooked up in our imagination to appeal to the hearts and minds of GPS users worldwide.

Hey, Dec 25th and whenever-the-date-Garmin-releases-their-updates are special dates in my mind.

I look forward to all of them.

Santa is not real

Santa is not real. So, he can show up exact the same time as you wish. Because it is all in your mind.

Garmin is real, so is Navteq. They run by human. Human rarely operates on a fixed schedule. Otherwise, our life would be millions times better.

Garmin released last update somewhere mid December. So, my guess is that the next release is late March. Of course, I hope I am wrong then I will be a little bit happier.
