GPX not uploading

I loaded several cvs files and one gpx file to my nuvi 765. Everything was in one directory. All the cvs files show up as custom POIs however the GPX file, Florida Wildlife Management Areas, is nowhere to be found. Am I not doing something that I should be doing?

What is the total number of files you have in the folder?

The number of files in a folder is immaterial unless you use subfolders.

Custom pois

The number of files not the problem.Have you checked for double extensions on the gpx file? That will cause a problem.Any kind of message when you ran poiloader? Here is outline for custom pois http://www.poi-factory.com/node/25721 .Did you try to just load the gpx file without the csv files to see if it shows up?

This is what I was referring to about number of files http://www.poi-factory.com/node/15907 good info to look at for future use.

Good call charlesd45. I just tried to upload only the GPX file and POILoader says there is no valid file. I'm going to download it again.

Apparently the file is bad.

Apparently the file is bad. I just downloaded it again and got the same "no valid file" message from POILoader. Is there anything that can be done about this?

I may be wrong but I was

I may be wrong but I was under the impression that you could only upload CSV files to the Garmin. I was told to use Extra POI to convert gpx files to CSV files and then upload them.

You can load either.Once

Wrong.

GPX files are perfectly acceptible to POI Loader. It makes no sense to convert GPX files to CSV files, as you lose any extension fields such as phone number that can be dialed if your device accepts a bluetooth phone. Another advantave of GPS files is that you can load GPX files into MapSource to use as Waypoints for routes, if your GPS accepts routes.

floridaWMA.gpx is NOT a POI file, so POI Loader cannot compile it. floridaWMA.gpx is a series of tracks. You can load it into MapSource to view them.

What is the name of the file?If on site it is best to use the contact tab for the file author and email him/her about the problem.

I just tried a different GPX file and it uploaded fine. So, can anything be done about the bad Florida Wildlife Management Areas file?

OK I'll conatct the person.

OK I'll contact the person. Thanks everyone.

Gpx files

You may want to look at this program many of use for gpx files.Extra Poi Editor.

You can download Extra Poi Editor (not for Mac at this time) at http://turboccc.wikispaces.com/Extra_POI_Editor . When you download the program if you get message about OCX file missing scroll down on the main page and under troubleshooting you will find the Extra Poi Editor Installer that you will need to download. Once installation is completed you will need to set up the preferences you want first. Under options click on preferences. For example using ft for input. Under units you will see editor, select Imperial/US. For Field Read and Field save select Metric.

Looks like

he tried to use tracks to outline the WMA areas instead of using a single point to set the location of the various WMA's
