TourGuide - Is there a way to get Icon only on Screen?

I have set up some of the Custom POIs from this site as Tourguides with a proximity alert distance. This works fine but the text message across the screen is covering too much. Is there s way to just have the icon show and not the text?

Only the text will show.You

Only the text will show. You could shorten up the name and move TourGuide to the end of the name instead of the front of it.You are right it takes up a lot of space.

Let's try another question. Why did you decide to use tourguide? Is there another way to accomplish your desired end result?

This was my way around the

This was my way around the POI icons not showing up on the screen. There are particular POIs that I want to know are along a route - so by creating a TourGuide file out of the Custom POI file and setting a radius of one mile (which I am probably going to change to a half mile) I now get those POIs visible at a "normal" zoom level - the icons show and the text box comes up with it. One of the problems is that some of these POIs are so close together that I am constantly getting that box on the screen when just the icon would suffice.

This is to compensate for a drawback in the Garmin - not being able to see POI icons on the 3d map at a practical zoom level. I know that the argument is that it slows down the screen draw and too many icons show up but on my TomTom it was possible to filter the icons of POIS that would be visible on the screen. So if I was driving and needed to know if there was food coming up along the route it would be there on the screen - without having to stop and start playing with the GPS to find out where. Garmin makes a big deal about not touching the gps while driving and then makes so many details unavailable unless you start playing with the screen - which is not exactly the best thing to do while driving.

Long explanation but that is what I have been trying to achieve and almost have it except for that annoying TourGuide box.
