Honoary Street Names Vs. Common Street Names

This is odd to my new Garmin and I am sure it is not Garmin but the company that supplies Garmin the maps. Instead of identifying roads, streets, and highways with the commonly used namee for them, the Garmin identifies them with the "honorary" names given to them in acknowledgment of some special person. For example - the actual signs on the road show the road as "Sunset Highway" but what comes up on the Garmin is "General John Smith Memorial Highway". That is very nice for General Smith but if I am looking for that road and this street sign what I am going to see is "Sunset Highway"> This is not such a problem when I am local but I can see this being a real problem when navigating in an unfamiliar location. I have to wonder how they even get these names because they do not appear on any paper or internet map. My old GPS - not a Garmin - did not do this - it exactly matched the names on the signs on the driven road.

Another Name

There is a road I cross on my commute that was named in honor of a WWII Marine and Medal of Honor recipient:

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=...

There is a sign at the intersection of route 109 and New Highway indicating New Highway is named in his honor: "CPL Tony Casamento Highway". If you notice, Google Maps as well as other mapping sites do not show this name and the official green and white street signs do not show that name either. Only a large highway sign indicates this honorary name. Yet, my Garmin will announce that name instead of "New Highway" name. It could definitely confuse someone if they were looking at the overhead street signs and did not see the name being announced by the Garmin.

here in Utah it gets even more confusing, the streets here were originally setup with numbers e.g. 2000w they have over time been changing them to names 2000w is sometimes known as Antelope Drive.

Don't you mean State rd 108 2000W runs north and south Antelope Dr. runs east and west.
The same is for Hwy 89 or as some call it the James Hansen Express way or Highway.
