1390T

Does anyone own a 1390T, and if so, what is your opinion of it? A family member is strongly considering the 1390LMT (same unit but with lifetime map updates). The unit seems to get good reviews but some say the audio is not that loud. I remember reading the same thing about my 265WT but mine is plenty loud! Sometimes too loud. The other cons I've read about in reviews do not concern me. I am curious about users here though. Thoughts?

Garmin 1390

I was hoping to see some comments here this weekend so I could go ahead & order the 1390 CMT from Costco. Hard to beat the deal they have right now.

there are several threads on the 1390

Do a search on 1390 and you will pick up several discussions about the 1390. You can probably disregard any of them that talk about issues prior to the last software update.

1390T

Go for it. I've had the 1390T for almost a year and have no problem with the audio. It is adjustable to #90 I recall. I keep my at #60. I did notice however, that if you move the device away from the window, the volume will lower. Remember, the speaker is in the back of the device, so the window server as a sound reflector.

Look at the 1490T as well. That device is the same as the 1390T but with a larger screen. Also at Costco at a very good price.

I have one

I have mine about 10 months and no problems. I have no problems with the audio either. The traffic works OK, not the greatest, but it works on Long Island. This is the best unit of the 3 Garmin's I have.

Good luck with it if you get one.

Have owned 765 265 1690 and have settled on the 1390. I just wish it had multi-point routing. The blue tooth also works intermittently

Audio on the 1390T

Does anyone know if the 1390T is compatible with MP3's for the alerts? Or does it require the WAV files?

3 of them

I've got 3 1390T's and a 1450. I LOVE the 1390's, even more than the larger 1450.

No audio issues. ONLY complaint I have is that the blue tooth phone thing really didn't work well on the one I tried it on. Could be a phone thing.

AND, mine only does wav files. Doesn't do mp3's, despite what it says.

I found the best price at Crutchfield. $229 I think for the LMT.

1390T POI Audio Files

Thanks, my dad just bought one and I am wanting to confirm WAVs or MP3s. Anyone else?

BTW, he bought his 1390LMT (lifetime maps)at Costco this week for $179.99.

Wav

On the specs it shows no mp3. https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=134&pID=32700#specsT...

Does that pertain to POIs as

Does that pertain to POIs as well? I interpreted that as music files. Might be one in the same though. After all, an MP3 player is required for both.

Yes

Yes.Most of all the new models have elimated the mp3 feature.May be wrong but the last new gps was the 295w that came out with mp3.Will not play hrough car speakers like the older units and the speaker according to reviews not very good.

I'm on my second one first one got broken i sent it in for repairs. I think it works great - the Bluetooth feature is not perfect and at times folks can't hear me. However the speaker is plenty loud, i have a hearing loss and it is loud even to me. The Traffic part works well and i've used it to route around areas of Traffic. I travel extensively with work and i always take my Garmin and it works well everywhere i've taken it from Washington, DC to Bismarck, ND to Albuquerque, NM, to Eagle Butte, SD and the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribal HQ Office to many other places in between rural and Urban small and large.

I also recently purchased lifetime maps which worked well as Garmin has vastly improved their map download interface. Only problem i have and it is not major is that tonight when i downloaded maps it said i didn't have enough memory and erased my favorites and recently visited places.... I don't like that but i can live with that. I now need to figure out how to do the micro card slot to see how much memory I can add. Haven't seen anything that tells me yet.

Anyway, as a fairly long-time user I would recommend it i think it works great.
