New dumb question about categories within favorites. (Updated - w/SOLUTION)

Okay guys...this is my first GPS, as some of you may have already figured out.
I have found that you can create categories within the favorites on the nuvi 1300. My question is, what is the point? I tried to create some categories and then assign some of my favorites to it, but I can't see what purpose it serves. When you select "Favorites" from the GPS there aren't any categories, so what is the point?
BTW...I believe strongly in the "teach a man to fish" theory. Well, some of you taught me to fish and I am sharing my fish with everybody (in the form of poi files that I have uploaded to the site.)
Happened to me too on my 1490
Even though I have only One instance of a Favourite, there are multiple instances of these numbers tied to that text named Favourite.
I guess this is a situation that would be easier to Show than try to explain. I'll have a go when I get together with another Garmin person and see what their unit does.
A possible solution for this would to be able to Edit/Delete Catagories but I don't see a way to do that.

I had something similar happen last August on my 1490. Some of my favourites suddenly had extra categories assigned to them, examples:
St Thomas Client 2011-07-29T17:39:57Z
Staple-Man Vendor 230.12
I resolved the problem by backing up my favourites, doing a hard reset then restoring my favourites. After the restore I had to manually edit the ones with multiple categories and delete the extra categories.
To edit a favourite, Select Where To -> Favorites -> select category/item to edit, then touch Change Categories.

Seems to be fixed
Just to flog the problem; Tapped a number catagory to bring up the fav. Went into Edit and started to uncheck all of the number "catagories". Completed the first number listing and went on to the second one. After doing That one, all the number catagories were Gone! Huh?! Oh well, don't know what happened or why but I ended up where I wanted to be. Just showing All Favourites, Addresses, etc with no digit only catagories.
All's well that ends well, eh?!
