Hi,
I work for a company where some users are out in the field with their Garmins and they need to record their latitude/longitude in decimal format for entry into an in-house software program. We've set the coordinate format to decimal, but it seems to leave the minus sign off of the longitude, although the coordinates seem to be correct otherwise. Is there some setting we're missing?
Thanks,
Gina
Longitude
If the GPS says "W" then it does not also need the "minus".
Wikipedia says it like this.
" If the direction of longitude (east or west) is not specified, positive longitude values are east of the Prime Meridian, and negative values are west of the Prime Meridian. This forms a right-handed coordinate system with the z axis (right hand thumb) pointing from the Earth's center toward the North Pole and the x axis (right hand index finger) extending from Earth's center through the equator at the Prime Meridian."

Thanks, jgermann. That makes sense now. I'll let the Garmin users know.
