Garmin Nuvi 255W

I am getting a Garmin Nuvi 255W this morning at work. I have experience with Garmin streetPilot 2730, Nuvi 500, and the Nuvifone G60, but I haven't used a Nuvi 255W much in the past. I am just trying to brainstorm on what I can do to get the most out of it. So far I have come up with the following:

-check to see how current maps are

-add custom POIs

-add custom vehicles

-transfer favorites from MapSource

-Possibly a custom voice, but that one doesn't do much for me.

For those that have the 255W do you have an specific tips?

I also see that this is compatible with the MSN® Direct Receiver/GDB 50 Part Number: 010-00583-00, but considering that this service is only available until January 1, 2012, would there even be much value in getting this?

nope, Just use it with what

nope,
Just use it with what it came with. I am waiting for the replacement, if any

should be pretty much like

It shouldn't be that different from the Nuvi 500. As already stated, i wouldn't waste money buying an MSN traffic cord with the end of life fast approaching. For what you pick up with MSN it just isn't worth the cost of the cable. (I have MSN on my 885 but I'll be looking for the other services in the near term.)

The 255 allows you to have categories for favorites like you have for custom pois.I find that to be a plus when planning a trip or for just having some order if you have lots of favorites. If the category is not on the list you can make your own.You may already know about using wav files for voice alerts.

Charlie. Nuvi 265 WT and Nuvi 2597 LMT. MapFactor Navigator - Offline Maps & GPS.

I would download the full

I would download the full manual from Garmins web site as that would explain everything about the unit. Also I would recommend getting a dash mount for it and a protective pouch to store it in when not in use.
This is a good unit and you will want to protect it.
