Deleting old Favorites - nuvi 205W

When I first purchased my nuvi 205W I added several favorites that I now want to delete. I deleted them through my actual device but they will randomly reappear for no reason that I can see. I know it is the same ones I have deleted multiple times but I cannot figure out why they are reappearing. Now when they reappear, other favorites I have deleted since then reappear causing me to manually delete them as well.

Anyone have any idea that could help me ? I looked through this forum but didn't see anything about reappearing favorites. These are not custom POI files loaded with POI loader, they are manually entered favorites that were then manually deleted.

I tried double clicking on the current GPX file and associating it with POI loaded but POI loader would not start to open the GPX file. I was hoping I could see if the favorites were still in the GPX file.

Any ideas ?

thanks !

Go to tools,my data, delete favorites and select from the list.As you found you can not delete by accessing the drive see http://www.poi-factory.com/node/7563 .To open the gpx file right click and open with Mapsource or use Extra Poi Editor. http://turboccc.wikispaces.com/Extra_POI_Editor under file click open Garmin favorites.

thanks !

Thanks Charlie....I had already deleted them manually by going to Favorites and Edit and Delete but I tried deleting them this time by going the route you suggested. They were not listed since I had already deleted them manually. So I downloaded Extra POI Editor and noticed quite a few extra GPX files other than current.gpx. I used GPX editor to open those stragglers and they were the culprits that were reappearing again for some reason. I removed those .gpx files and should be good to go now! Cool program that Extra POI Editor and thanks for guiding me in this. I do appreciate the help smile

Glad it worked out.I use

Glad it worked out.I use Extra Poi Editor a lot for converting csv to gpx files and build the alert distance. That way I can use the express mode in poiloader. It does a lot more then that.A tool that all users should have.It doesn't work for Mac though.

By the way the files in addition to the current.gpx.When you use Google,Mapquest or Bing maps to send favorites to your unit. Those extra ones are the result of that.Once you re-boot the unit you can go back and delete them. They become a part of the current.gpx and only take up space after that.

didn't know that...

hhhhmmmm....didn't know that they were the after-effects of loading them in via Mapquest, google, geocaching, etc....but it was odd when I deleted them from the Favorites and then they returned from these residual files only after some time. Got them now though smile

curent.gpx

When you deleted them from the unit and left the other ones other then the current.gpx it re-loaded them.I had never gave that any thought before.I always go back and delete mine.Makes sense because when you take a file to add to your favorites and re-name it temp.gpx and stick in the gpx folder it loads it to current.gpx.
