I will get these removed

I will get these removed from this week's file.

Miss POI

clarification

Which of these cities:Baton Rouge, Gretna, Harvey, Lafayette, Metairie, New Orleans, Scott represent Jefferson Parish?

I found this map: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Map_of_Jefferson_Parish_Lo...

Are all of the cameras in this whole area being removed?

Miss POI

.

According to the article, they're just being turned off until further notice. They are not being removed and may be turned back on in the future.

I wouldn't remove the files

I wouldn't remove the files yet. One of the comments said that the cameras are still working.

PLEAS BE ADVISED . I just called the jefferson parish red light enforcement telephone number. Thay stated that the cameras are up and active. The lady that I spoke with stated that they are aware of the article on nola.com but it is an inaccurate untruth. THE CAMERAS ARE STILL IN BUSINESS!!!! BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL!!!!DONT GIVE JEFFERSON PARISH ANOTHER RED DIME!"

Port Richie florida

There was an article in the paper in Pasco County in Florida that the red light camera on US 19 & Ridge road was being removed. They only removed the old big camera and replaced it with a much smaller one.
The new one is much less obvious & a lot more cars go through the light thinking they are safe.
They are getting more sneaky in hiding them.
In January I was on US 95 in Georgia and I had a speed camera alert in between two exits. I saw the camera, it was there. That one has to ba a real money maker for tha state.

I will monitor...

the local news regarding the cameras in Jefferson Parish. So far, they are turned off as the article indicates, only one poster erroneously stated they were still active but I suspect for political reasons they will be off for an indefinite period of time. I also suggest not removing them from the file as of yet; and your map is correct in defining the Parish boundaries. I am on the East bank of the river and do not know of the camera function on the West bank (or their locations) but Parish-wide should mean just that.

Stay tuned...

The new tool that Jon is

The new tool that Jon is building will allow me to check cameras that have been turned off and have them remain in my research in case they are turned on again.

I am leaving these cameras in the file for now. I will change their status when the new tool is up.

Miss POI

There is another thread on

There is another thread on this subject. In it, there is an article stating that the cameras have been turned off as of January 27th, at 3 pm.

I cannot tell you what a

I cannot tell you what a relief it is to travel through one of these intersections that has the cameras turned off. Now that the cameras are off, I believe that the intersections are much SAFER. Too many times I witnessed drivers coming to panic stops on a yellow so as to not get fined.

Thank you Chris Roberts and the rest of the Jefferson Parish Council!!!

Being Curious

What will become of the factory, when all camera are turned off? I mean the real meat and potatoes are the cameras, They pay your bills!

Just asking!

POI Factory

BobDee, I think the factory is safe for the time being based on Miss POI's weekly log. It seems for each removed camera multiple new ones are added. I think it is possible that the trend to add cameras will eventually reverse as more evidence is presented that the cameras are ineffective or even dangerous, but I think it will take several more years for that to play out (if ever).

Los Angeles RLC

On the news, the Mayor announced that they have 32 Red Light Cameras in LA city, and will be adding a lot more. The city is really hurting for revenue!
