Downloading the Wal-Mart POI File

I downloaded, or tried to download, the Wal-Mart POI file using the Garmin software. The message at the end said that X number of POI were loaded. When I looked at the files on my GPS, I could not find anything that looked like the file I thought I downloaded.....should it not have shown up??? If not.....how do I determine that the POI were really loaded???

I also wanted to download the Wal-Mart icon.....that did not seem to work either. I know this is very simple....but I must be missing something....Please Help!!

Sounds like it loaded - try

Sounds like it loaded - try this - Where to>Extras>select Custom POIs (it's a button - push it). Walmart POI file should show up there.

Download BMP icon from this site and put in the same folder with exactly the same name.

walmart.csv (or walmart.gpx)
walmart.bmp

Run POI Loader again. It erases old POI.GPI file each time you run it.

Try using Search and /or FAQ for much more information.

Unless you are the lead sled dog, the view never changes. I is retard... every day is Saturday! I still use the Garmin 3590 LMT even tho I upgraded to the Garmin 61 LMT. Bigger screen is not always better in my opinion.

It did download......I was

It did download......I was looking for it under the POI button not the Extras button! Once I looked in the right place.....there they were.

Now....if I've downloaded the icons....will they show up on my map as I approach a Wal-Mart or a Rest Area from the Rest Area POI??

You have to be zoomed in to

You have to be zoomed in to 200 ft level for icon to show on map. You can set an alert that will notify you when you are near, but I would suggest to use this feature sparingly. Too many alerts become annoying.

To set alerts, you have to run POI Loader in Manual mode instead of Express. You then select Proximity distance for each file you are loading.

redlight camera.csv 2000 ft

Default alerts are bong-bong sound, but you can also load wav files (or mp3 if your unit has mp3 player).

Try FAQ and / or Search for more details.
