I recently purchased a Garmin 255W. Are there any maps that I should upload other than what it came with?

unless you plan on going overseas.the installes maps will do fine for you............if you do plan a trip outside North America,ask for specific map info on this site......many users have other maps.......if you want info on Spain (redlight and speed cameras,i have them

map update
you have 60 days to upload the most current map from garmin which is free. then it sahould be good for sometime unless there is a lot of construction where you drive

You can purchase additional maps from garmin and load it to an SD card if you need to travel out of USA would be a good idea.
As you can see the above user recommended to load Custom POIs like Red Light Camera, McDonald's, whatever fit your needs. (This is the place where you can get most of those files for free)
