Gramin GDB-50 for MSND on clearance at Best Buy

Folks,

The Garmin GDB-50 for MSND is on clearance at Best Buy for $52. It comes with 1 year of service. I know MSND is shutting down by 2012. Is this worth getting? Is there any use for these receivers after MSND shuts down .. ie can I subscribe to TTN or Navteq later on with these receivers?

BTW I have a Nuvi 855 and this receiver is compatible with the device.

Traffic receivers

The GDB-50 is only for MSN. Unless TTN or NavTeq make changes to their system, the cord will only function as a power cord. Of course, in 2 years someone could buy the MSN network and have everyone resubscribe.

I don't think it would be worth it. One thing I would question is how good will the service be between now and 2012? Since the MSN Direct service is no longer generating revenue, what motive does Microsoft have to maintain the quality, coverage, etc.
