Erase POI from multiple GPS without connecting to computer?

A couple times a year I update a batch of Garmin GPS units (several different models). I upload the POI to a SD card and then update the units which has worked great. However, I had to get a new computer which then the file to generate the POI file has changed locations. Instead of overriding the POI file on the GPS, it creates a new one. Is there a way to delete the old files off the GPS units without connecting each one to a computer and manually deleting the file?

let's see

According to the record you have been a member for just over 6 months but that doesn't mean you didn't download files as a guest. We have to assume you are using a PC and POI Loader version 2.7.0. This version of POILoader has a bug which writes an incorrect file extension when writing directly to an SD card. The POI file also has the name of the folder you created to hold all your files. Older versions always wrote a file called poi.gpi while 2.6.0 and up wrote (folder name).gpi while 2.7.0 writes (folder name).poi to an SD Card.

So what are you seeing on the SD card? Is it a .poi or .gpi file? What was the name of the old file, poi.gpi?

To furthur clarify

what Box Car is saying is that since 2.7.0 has a bug, the sd card gets a (folder name).poi. It should be (folder name).gpi.
Since they are 2 different names, then the poi loader does not ask you to delete (or overwrite) the file it sees.

You therefore wind up with the following on the card:
name.poi (new poi file)
name.gpi (old poi file)

For those that are using poi loader version 2.7.0 and can not find the pois after you load them to an sd card you must use the computer to delete the old one and then rename the new files extension to gpi.

You cannot access the Garmin OS system without the USB hookup.

SD Card

That is why I like using an SD card. It is easier to fix or correct thing on the sd card and not have to worry about possibly deleting the wrong file for the GPS.

overwrite same file name

I do connect to GPSr and overwrite old gpi files as they are with same file names.

These are custom POIs that

These are custom POIs that I've created and updating.

I am using a PC and using 2.7.0.0.

The old file and new file are exactly the same name: Friends.gpi. I used a custom name for ease of use on my end.

I'll just manually connect to each unit, delete the old file and start fresh.

That is the only way.
