desert update

same old hot,hot,hot with absence of rain. Not much of a monsoon season,so far.
Almost time for overseeding on local golf courses,which means picking and choosing where to play for the next couple of weeks.

We had one heck of a

We had one heck of a lighting and thunder shows this weekend! Started at midnight and didn't end till after 11am the next morning.

Rain

Finally after a summer of 100+ bright sunny days, we have had rain for the past week. What a nice break in the monotiny of the summer. Got the window open, no AC and enjoying fresh air for a change.

No vacancy.

After catching 4 raccoons and 3 opossums I didn't catch or film anything but traffic down the alley or squirrels running around the yard but yesterday I used gristle from my steak as bait and this morning the cage was closed but no animals. The camera showed 4 raccoons around the cage at 8:09 pm.

The Pat's got lucky the other night. Brady not quite in true form ---yet. It's like the new New England Pats with all the cuts they made. Not sure how the season is going to go, but the first game sure was a nail biter.

Hockey is the name for a gathering where people occasionally use a stick to hit a rubber disk along the ice. Most of the time they are busy striking each other. As the game originally required a frozen lake or river, the 'season' became winter.

Time to Overseed

We have are getting a good amount of rain and the nights are cooler, so we are going to start overseeding. On some yards we have complete renovations, so hopefully they will have a good stand of grass by the end of October.

A familiar voice

Talking about hockey, I just read that "The Voice of the Boston Bruins" for 45 years on radio and then TV died . Fred Cusick was a very familiar voice to many of us in the New England area. He was 90 years old.

I grew up in an area that played hockey as a sport. Organized leagues, clubs, even in the schools. I enjoy hockey. I do not enjoy what has been marketed as a brawl where a hockey game broke out. Give me amatuer hockey as played on the international scene and I will gladly bypass any of the "professional" teams to see a real game of hockey played.

Weekends are for the employed

After not catching any animals with the food I gave them I decided it was time for a change. I had hot Spanish sausage with potatoes for supper but I did not like the meat so I tried it on the raccoons and they just walked around the cage but would not enter. My neighbor had a birthday cookout so I gave him the leftover meat and they loved it. Do I have picky raccoons or what. Tonight I will serve left over lasagna.
