Audio Output, Internal speaker to FM transmitter question (??)

My Garmin audio output occasionally changes from internal speaker to FM transmitter when I am shuting down - am I doing something to make this happen or is this a bug in the unit?
Thank you in advance.

correct me if I'm wrong.

correct me if I'm wrong. Keep in mind that FM Transmitter is using WIRELESS technology. I actually dislike using the FM Transmitter due to the problem you're stating. I get intermittent connectivity as well. Try changing to a channel(Frequency) that's lease used by your area. Using a popular channel in your area, you're just competing with that channel for access to your stereo. I've noticed that in larger cities the FM Transmitter doesn't work as well.

Not Seen That

I have not had that problem with my 660. It is set to internal speaker and has never changed on its own.

This may or may not help, but what Garmin model number do you have?

You can walk a horse to water, but a pencil has to be led.

Had that happen once

On a recent trip I had that same thing happen one day with my 760. It was pretty weird. No idea why it happened though. It did it one time and that was it. Never happened before or since.

Are you

Are you perhaps accidentally pressing the power button twice quickly when powering the unit down. On the Tips and Shortcuts section of the quick reference guide for the 660 it talks about switching the audio output between the nuvi and FM by quickly pressing the power button twice. If you hold down the power button for a few seconds before letting go the 660 should power off without switching the audio output to FM.

weird

Never happened to me. I changed between these two modes. FM transmitter on long driving and internal speaker rest of time. I clearly remembered the mode I set, and never missed. (knock wood)
