This list only contains the updates for units that are updatable via stand-alone .exe files. This is the way all units used to be updated, before there was WebUpdater. You would download a .exe file, run that file and the unit would be updated in that manner.

Units that are now updated via WebUpdater only like the 2x0/2x5, 7x5, 1xxx series (possibly others I've missed) are not listed here.

For those units, you can use my master list that contains all nuvis, regardless of the type of update method. This list tends to get buried since it's not "stickyed" so you may have to hunt it down when you need it (as I just had to do when I updated it).

I assume it is still a good idea to stay away from the myDashboard approach and stay with WebUpdater?

I avoid actually using it to download any updates...I'll run it periodically to see if there is something new but it won't tell you what it is that's new...you need to guess as it never tells you. And when downloading anything, even if it has nothing at all to do with a firmware update, it displays the message "Updating firmware". Not very informative or accurate if you ask me. And it's also confusing people; I've seen numerous posts, here and in other forums with users reporting they downloaded "new firmware" (because of the bogus "Updating firmware" message) but in actuality, it was something else like a voice update.

Not to be stupid but...

I have a Nuvi 350, which is one of the models that's been abandoned for awhile. It works fine now, and it worked fine when new. And it worked fine when it was updated a few times.

There are always bugs in everything with a mass of programming code. But since we're not talking about Windows, and at least the 350 has never crashed on me in the last 3 years I've owned it, the way I've gotten blue screens of death from Microsoft, do all these updates really amount to any great value?

There have been just a few updates that have actually added a feature or two like ecoRoute. The majority of the updates are to fix bugs but many times, the fix creates a new bug elsewhere. Then you need a fix to fix the fix...

If a unit is around long enough, it stands a good chance of actually being quite stable (nuvi 7x0 series) but at the rate Garmin is introducing new nuvis (seemingly every 3 months), these units are replaced by something new in record time before all the bugs are corrected.

The new 1xxx series is no exception. Units were released with numerous bugs which the public unwittingly got to discover and report...in the meantime, they wait for a fix. They are still waiting for a fix for the cityXplorer routing issues along with issues if you have over 128 favorites on the unit.
