Nuvi 855 can't see campgrounds in custom POI

I downloaded two custom POI's from the factory. Rest areas & campgrounds. Both are are the same file format both on in the same folder. When I install on the Garmin it says the total records for both files loaded, but when I go to custom POI's I only see a list of rest areas. No camprounds. What am I missing?

Thanks

Two files right?

You didn't combine the files into a single file did you? If you have two file names you will have two entries.

Yes, two separate files.

No I did not combine the files. I don't have any file names under Custom POI's on the Garmin, just a list of Rest Areas. Should there be to separate files in is catagory?

Could you try loading just the campground file, then see if it's there? That might help distinguish between your problem being an issue with the campground file itself vs. an issue with loading two files and just seeing one.

Loading POI

If you have two files in the same folder to be loaded, they both should appear.

Create a folder - the desktop is good

In this folder, put all the files to be loaded. These can be a combination of CSV or GPX files, BMP or icon files and WAV or MP3 files.

The file names must match if they are to be linked together. Rest_Areas.csv will match to Rest_Areas.bmp and Rest_Areas.mp3 but will not match to US Rest Areas.bmp.

All files can have only ONE (1) period in the name. If you have two, the files will not match and the alert/icon will not play or display.

Run POILoader in MANUAL mode. This will allow you to set a proximity alert based on either speed or distance from the POI in the file being loaded. You set or not set a proximity for each file in manual mode.

POILoader when finished will tell you the number of locations that were wrtten to the device.

NOTE: Using Wav files requires a converter program, but as you are not using a 2xx series GPS, you can use MP3 alerts. Each time you run POILoader, you overwrite the existing file, so be certain all your POI are in the folder when you start.

I have an 855 also, and have found that when adding or updateing the POI's, you need to do a battery pull.

After copying them to the 855, disconnect it from the computer normally, let it restart, turn it off AND remove the battery for about 15 seconds.

Put the battery back in and restart the 855. After it finishes loading, you should see the new files.

Sometimes (without the battery pull), it will only show some of the added files, sometimes not any.

I have the 855 and loading pois and or updating has never been an issue.

I am at work right now, when

I am at work right now, when I get home tonight I will try to load just the campground poi. I will also set up separate sub-folders for each and see if they will load that way. Both of these files on on this website and I can't see any thing wrong with them. Of course, I have new to this so I appreciate all the help I can get.

I finally got it to work

I finally got it to work last night by creating separate folders on the PC for each POI file and then loading them one at a time on the Garmin. After each install I would than go on the Garmin and rename the file. It worked. Thanks everyone for your help!

Hmm, maybe mine is flaky. All else works fine. Just that when I load in a POI set, I have to do a battery pull. Maybe after being off (or rather on standby) for a time, it resets itself. I have always checked immediately after doing the update.

Oh well, as long as it works with the battery pull, I can live with it.
